The 5 Best Alternatives to Invisalign in 2026

The 5 Best Alternatives to Invisalign in 2026

Clear aligners have become the go-to choice for adults straightening their teeth, and for good reason: they’re nearly invisible, and for most cases they work just as well as braces. Invisalign is the name everyone knows, and it has earned that reputation. It can treat nearly everything braces can, with a dentist or orthodontist guiding your treatment from your first appointment to your last. The problem is the price. Treatment typically runs $4,000 to $8,000, with most patients paying around $6,000. Part of that comes down to how the system works: Align Technology, the company behind Invisalign, charges dentists some of the highest prices in the industry, and practices add their own margin on top.

The good news is that Invisalign no longer has the category to itself. Every alternative in this guide gives you the same fundamentals, a real exam and X-rays with a dentist responsible for your treatment, for meaningfully less. The main differences come down to what you pay, how much of your treatment happens in the office, and, just as important, who decides your price. Here are the five alternatives most worth your attention in 2026.

Linea: Best Overall Alternative

Linea Aligners Logo

$1,995 – $3,995

Linea gives you the parts of Invisalign treatment that matter most, at around half the typical price. Everything starts in person: a local partner dentist, matched to you through Linea’s website, handles your exam, X-rays, and 3D scans. From there, treatment moves home. You check in monthly by sending photos through the Linea app and return to the office only when your treatment calls for it. The industry calls this mix of in-person care and home check-ins “hybrid” treatment. And while Linea is new to the US, they aren’t new at this: founded by dentists in Australia, they were among the first companies built around the hybrid model and have treated more than 5,000 patients worldwide.

What makes Linea different is who sets your price. At a typical practice, the dentist buys the aligner system and then decides what to charge you on top; that’s why the same treatment can cost $3,500 at one office and $7,000 across town. Linea flips this. It publishes one price menu, and its partner dentists have agreed to work within it: $1,995, $2,995, or $3,995, depending on how many aligners your case needs, plus a flat $200 for the initial exam and scans. You won’t know your tier until that exam, but you’ll know the ceiling walking in, and even Linea’s highest price is below where Invisalign’s typical range begins. Your rate was negotiated before you ever showed up.

Pros

  • Treatment starts with a real exam, X-rays, and 3D scans, and a team of orthodontic specialists designs your plan alongside your local dentist
  • The menu price covers the whole treatment: aligners, standard in-person visits, retainers, and professional-grade whitening are all included, with nothing added on later
  • Refinements are included too: if your teeth land short of their projected final position by your last aligner, Linea makes you additional aligners at no extra charge
  • Can use attachments when a case calls for them, small tooth-colored grips bonded to the teeth that make more complex corrections possible; not every company here offers them
  • Aligners arrive in staged batches, with a re-scan partway through treatment, so your later aligners are made for where your teeth actually are rather than where a projection said they’d be
  • Customer feedback has been outstanding: 4.8 out of 5 across 300+ Trustpilot reviews, with frequent praise for their dentists’ attentiveness and 7-day in-app support

Cons

  • Still expanding in the US; currently available in Arizona, Florida, and New York, with more regions on the way
  • While capable of handling the large majority of cases Invisalign treats, Linea isn’t suited to the most severe ones, especially those involving jaw position; those call for Invisalign or braces, sometimes in tandem with oral surgery
  • “I chose Linea to straighten my teeth because I liked the fact that they work together with a dentist throughout. I was initially a bit nervous, but the process turned out to be pretty easy and straightforward.”
    Randall L.
    Verified Customer*
  • “Brilliant customer service every step of the way. The dentists I visited were lovely and professional. Whenever I needed tiny adjustments, the Linea team was more than happy to work with me to suggest a workable solution. Super responsive and helpful.”

Linea - Our Recommendation

Linea offers the most well-rounded alternative to Invisalign available today: a dentist who has actually examined you, specialists planning your case, Linea’s own support team behind them, and a price that was set before you walked in, usually around half of Invisalign’s.

Special Offer: Get $150 off treatment by completing Linea's quiz and booking a consultation within 2 weeks

ClearCorrect: Most Like Invisalign

ClearCorrect Logo

$3,500 – $7,000

If you want the Invisalign experience, but potentially at a slightly lower cost, ClearCorrect is the most direct substitute. Treatment works the same way: a dentist or orthodontist examines you, plans your case, and sees you for regular office visits until treatment is done. ClearCorrect has been around since 2006, making it one of the first real competitors to Invisalign, and it’s owned by Straumann, a major Swiss dental company. It’s the established second option many practices offer right alongside Invisalign.

Pros

  • Treats mild through severe cases, including many that others on this list can’t
  • The full in-office experience, with hands-on care and progress checks at every stage
  • Usually costs less than Invisalign for comparable treatment
  • Widely available through practices across the country

Cons

  • No published pricing; you’ll need to find a practice that offers it and sit through a consultation just to learn what you’d pay
  • At $3,500 – $7,000, it’s still an in-office price, and the top of the range overlaps with Invisalign’s
  • Requires regular office visits at every stage, which is the trade-off for that hands-on care

ClearCorrect - Our Recommendation

If your case is complex, or you simply want every step handled in person, ClearCorrect delivers the closest thing to Invisalign at a usually-lower price. For more typical cases, though, you may be paying in-office prices for oversight that a hybrid option like Linea provides for considerably less.

Candid: The Established Hybrid

Candid Logo

Around $4,000

Candid started out as a fully remote, at-home aligner company, but it has since evolved into something different: CandidPro, an in-office treatment you purchase through a local dentist, with hybrid elements like remote monitoring built in.

For remote check-ins, Candid provides a ScanBox, a phone-mounted device that captures scans of your teeth every two weeks. The system runs on DentalMonitoring, a platform used by dental practices worldwide, and it has a solid reputation; some patients find it more convenient than the take-the-photos-yourself approach most hybrid brands use. Pricing is set by each individual practice rather than published by Candid, so your cost depends on your provider. Most patients pay somewhere around $4,000.

Pros

  • Scan-box check-ins take some of the guesswork out of remote monitoring, with scans reviewed by both your dentist and Candid’s team
  • Purchased through a local dental practice, so your treatment has an in-person home base, and if your own dentist is in Candid’s network, you can even stay with them
  • An established provider with years of treatment history across hundreds of practices

Cons

  • No published pricing, and at around $4,000, it costs close to in-office treatment despite the hybrid convenience
  • Doesn’t use attachments, which may limit its ability to address certain misalignments; these small tooth-colored grips, standard in in-office care and the most robust hybrid options like Linea, are what make complex movements and rotations possible
  • A smaller network than the bigger names, around 300 practices, so availability depends on your area
  • “Candid has done a great job so far, I send in my scans every week for someone to review. Getting them was quick and easy, just had to go in person and they scanned my mouth. It was about a two week wait until they shipped after that.”
    Hannah S., Atlanta
    Verified Customer*
  • “They have made the process very easy and seamless so far and I’m honestly surprised at how well treatment is working considering they offer no buttons or attachments.”
    Clarissa D., Belvidere
    Verified Customer*
  • We've collected dozens of customer reviews from real Candid customers. Keep in mind that some were posted before Candid’s transition to a hybrid model.

Candid - Our Recommendation

If you like the hybrid approach and want it from a longer-established name, with scan-box check-ins instead of do-it-yourself photos, Candid is a worthy option. Just know you’ll likely pay close to in-office prices.

Motto: Easiest to Get Started

Motto Aligners Logo

$2,999+

Motto is sold through more than 1,100 Aspen Dental locations, which means the nearest providing dentist is often just a short drive away. You can walk in, get an exam and X-rays, and often start the same day. Treatment follows the hybrid pattern, with in-person visits up front and virtual check-ins along the way.

The main thing to understand going in is the price. Motto advertises $2,999, but its own materials have shown different figures over time, advanced cases cost extra, and there’s no published price list. In practice, the providing office appears to have a lot of discretion over what you actually pay.

Pros

  • The fastest path from thinking about treatment to starting it, with 1,100+ locations and same-day starts
  • Begins with an in-person exam and X-rays, like every option in this guide
  • The $2,999 headline price undercuts most in-office treatment
  • Backed by one of the country’s largest dental networks

Cons

  • What you’ll actually pay is hard to know in advance: quotes vary by office, and advanced cases cost extra
  • Aspen Dental’s service reviews are decidedly mixed, and your experience rides on whichever office you walk into
  • Refinements must be requested within 30 days of finishing treatment

Motto - Our Recommendation

If you want hybrid care and you want to start today, Motto is hard to beat: walk into an Aspen Dental office, get your exam, and you can often leave in treatment the same day. Before you commit, though, get the full price for your case in writing, since Motto’s advertised numbers and real quotes don’t always match.

SureSmile: In-Office Care with the Extras Included

SureSmile Logo

$2,000 – $6,000

SureSmile is ClearCorrect’s closest competitor: an in-office treatment from Dentsply Sirona, one of the world’s largest dental companies, sold through practices with pricing to match. Most patients pay somewhere around $4,000. What sets it apart is what comes with treatment. SureSmile’s standard package includes a set of retainers and a whitening kit for when your aligners come off, and many providers also bundle in its VPro device, a five-minutes-a-day vibration tool that helps aligners seat properly.

Pros

  • Retainers and a whitening kit are part of SureSmile’s standard package, and many providers include its VPro seating device
  • Treats mild through severe cases, on par with ClearCorrect and Invisalign
  • A “Complete” option covers additional aligners for five years, the longest follow-through coverage in this guide
  • Backed by one of the world’s largest dental companies, with orthodontic technology roots going back decades

Cons

  • Pricing is set by the practice, with no published price list; complex cases can approach Invisalign prices
  • Dentsply doesn’t sell to consumers directly, so finding a providing practice and learning your cost both take legwork
  • Fewer consumer reviews than the bigger names, so you’re relying more on your dentist’s read than on a public track record

SureSmile - Our Recommendation

If you’re leaning toward in-office treatment, SureSmile deserves a serious look alongside ClearCorrect. It handles the same range of cases, and the retainers and whitening kit that come standard can make it the better overall deal. Ask your dentist whether they offer it, and have them spell out exactly what your quote includes.

How we Select and Review Clear Aligner Companies

Smile Prep has reviewed a total of 12 clear aligner brands in-depth. Review candidates include not only the most popular brands, but also several lesser known options that, in our view, have something unique to offer.

Smile Prep’s reviews offer the perspective of a well-informed consumer. This means that our views are not professional opinions, and we do not independently verify the claims the manufacturers make about their products. Instead, the value that we offer is to collect the claims that clear aligner companies make about their products and compare them for your convenience. We also analyze customer perspectives, including hundreds of reviews that we gathered directly from Smile Prep’s visitors. In many cases, we have also corresponded directly with company representatives and/or sampled products or impression kits first hand. You can learn more about our review process by checking out our publishing principles.

What About Fully At-Home Clear Aligner Treatments?

Every option above comes with a local dentist’s exam and ongoing oversight. But we’d be remiss not to mention the other alternative: so-called at-home aligners from fully remote companies like AlignerCo, NewSmile, and Smileie. With these, there’s no exam, no X-rays, and no office visits. You take your own impressions at home, and a remote team reviews your progress through photos. That’s what makes them by far the cheapest way to straighten your teeth, and for a mild case on a tight budget, these providers can be a viable option.

They come with real trade-offs, though. No one examines your teeth in person before treatment, so problems an exam or X-ray would catch can go unnoticed. And the category has a mixed track record: SmileDirectClub, once its biggest name, collapsed into bankruptcy in 2023, and Byte, which held the top spot in an earlier version of this guide, suspended sales indefinitely in October 2024 following an investigation by the FDA spurred by patient complaints. That history is a big part of why this guide now focuses on dentist-led treatment.

If your case is mild and budget is the deciding factor, we’ve covered the at-home providers we feel have the strongest track records and value propositions in our guide to the best clear aligners.

Our Recommendation

Which Invisalign Alternative is Best for You?

All five of the treatment options highlighted on this page are dentist-led, and the main differences are price and how much of your treatment happens in the office. ClearCorrect and SureSmile are fully in-office, like Invisalign: every stage happens at the practice. Linea, Candid, and Motto are hybrid treatments, where care starts in person and continues from home, which is a big part of why they tend to cost less.

Choose Linea if:

You want dentist-led treatment without in-office prices. You get a real exam and a dentist on your case throughout, and Linea’s prices are published, identical at every partner practice, and include your retainers, whitening, and any refinements. There’s nothing to shop around for, nothing to discover later, and you know the most you could pay before you ever book.

Choose ClearCorrect if:

Your misalignment is severe, or you want every stage of treatment handled in person and don’t mind paying in-office prices for it. Prices are set by each practice and can vary by thousands of dollars for the same treatment, so get more than one quote and compare what each includes: retainers, whitening, or refinements may be built into one and cost extra in another.

ClearCorrect
For Full In-Office Care
Priced by Your Practice

$3,500 – $7,000

Linea
For Dentist-Led Care
at One Published Price

$1,995 – $3,995

Final Thoughts

There’s no doubt about it: Invisalign is excellent treatment, with over two decades of results behind it. If your case is severe or your budget is comfortable, it remains a great choice, and nothing in this guide argues otherwise.

But if Invisalign’s price is what has been holding you back, you have real alternatives. For most people in that position, we think Linea is the standout: a real exam and diagnostics up front, a local dentist and orthodontic planning team on your case, and a published price menu that tops out at $3,995, below where Invisalign’s typical range begins.
