According to Byte, their aligners can quickly close mild-to-moderate gaps in the front six teeth. But do customer reviews back up these claims?
In general, yes! Nearly every review from customers specifically treating tooth gaps was positive, with most cases being resolved in the stated timeframe. However, when the gap was just one of several issues, the secondary concerns sometimes persist a bit longer, requiring two to three times the standard number of aligners.
But don’t just take our word for it — read the authentic customer reviews below to learn more.
Smile Prep offers readers a small financial incentive in exchange for their unbiased reviews. We require proof of purchase before accepting reviews, and all reviewers must have completed at least three months of aligner treatment. I wanted to have someone there every step of the way and I definitely got that. The impressions kit was pretty simple (but uncomfortable) to do.
My biggest concern was my gap between my two front teeth and that has definitely been fixed. However, the crowding in my bottom teeth was not fixed and I need to get more aligners than I was originally supposed to have to correct it. What is nice about that though, is that I don’t have to pay any additional money for my refinement aligners. As for the aligners themselves, I definitely had some fit issues in my molars but the hyper Byte definitely helped with that and I got instructions to follow from customer service.
Overall, I’d give Byte 4/5 because it fixed my main concern, but I’ll still need more aligners to fix my secondary issue.
UPDATE November 2020: This company did a great job with my gap, however, I still have crowding in my bottom teeth even after my treatment. I’m currently waiting for refinement aligners and it’s taking about 2 months and my current aligners are starting to fall apart. Crossing my fingers that they get here soon! 🤞
Helpful?Chris J.Atlanta, GA2 years agoCrowdingSpacingTooth GapI’ve wanted to close my gap for as long as I can remember; I may not have ever pulled the trigger if it weren’t for Byte and their unique system which includes the HyperByte and BrightByte. Their customer service is on point, and the whole treatment is very reasonably priced compared to the other brands on the market.
In less than 3 months of treatment, my gap almost fully closed. And over the next several weeks, my few wayward teeth will continue to straighten per the plan from the #Byte doctors and experts.
I’m going into the 10th month of the program and coming down the home stretch to completing my Byte journey. I did the nighttime aligners which require me to wear the aligners 10+ hours per day (even tho over time I wore them most of the day also); the daytime aligners require you to wear them 22+ hours a day. The company does a great job with sales and customer service. Their medical director @drjonmarashi is awesome!! The two things that made me go with Byte over the others (outside of their customer service) was pricing and the HyperByte-the device that sonically helps to cut your program time while helping to alleviate the pain/discomfort that comes with shifting your teeth. Hopefully, this helps those thinking about getting aligners.
If you’re considering a clear aligner system, give Byte a closer look.

Helpful?Sheri L.Saginaw, MI1 year agoTooth GapOverbiteOpen BiteI’ve always been embarrassed by the gap in my front teeth. I wanted braces since I was a child, but was told the gap gave me character.
As I was getting older, my teeth had shifted pretty significantly and my gap was now an open bite (none of my teeth would touch together) and everything ended up being crooked.
I was embarrassed to smile for pictures or even be on camera for work in a time of constant zoom meetings.
I had seen an orthodontist and was told it would be $7,000 for Invisalign. No way could I afford that.
The reasons I went for byte was because of the quick treatment time, the 5 years worth of retainers that were in included in the plan, the ease of having everything delivered, and the fact it was affordable with the financing they offer.
So here is the good, the bad and the ugly.
The good: I feel so much more confident in my smile. I can smile in pictures now and I am not embarrassed to be on camera with colleagues.
The bad: Are my teeth perfect? No. But the things I was most concerned about have been resolved. I have a small gap that was shifted from my front teeth to a less conspicuous area on the side, but it is not noticeable from the front. It doesn’t give the “perfect” results that Invisalign can give, but it resolved my problems for a fraction of the cost.
The ugly: treatment was downright painful at times. The first few days of a new tray would shed my tongue, cheeks and inside of my lips. When taking them out it would sometimes slice my gums. I had to shave some bits off because of the intense pain, but once I figured out where it was hurting I could mostly eliminate it by slicing/filing. The hyperbyte helps, but when you are moving teeth that quickly, it just hurts. But a few months of pain was worth it to not be so embarrassed by my smile.
Overall, I would recommend byte to anyone that feels embarrassed by their smile and finds that Invisalign is prohibitively expensive.
Helpful?Ashley LaneHouston, TX1 year agoCrowdingSpacingTooth GapOverbiteHmmmm. Where do I start. The best way to explain Bytes process is DIY. Do it yourself teeth straightening. You are basically in control of your own orthodontic care. Bad stuff first. False timeline. I expected to get done with treatment in 15 weeks as prescribed by BYTE. I expected to wear each aligner for 7 days and switch to the next aligner right after. I expected to have phone calls answered and emails responded to within 24 hours. I expected for the treatment to work on the first set of aligners. None of the aforementioned happened. I am now on a 2nd set of aligners. It has been 9 months. I have to wear the aligners for 2 weeks each. The customer service is very SLOW. I chose Byte at night because I dont want to wear them all the day. I wear them for 10hrs at night and take them out. Have I seen progress with my teeth? Yes. Do they look better? Yes. But goodness! Its such a slowwwwww process. I am glad that I dont have to visit the dentist constantly. I am not happy that BYTE withheld important info like time frame. YOu are required to send in pictures constantly. I hope that the treatment works with the current refinement aligners I am in right now.
Helpful?Tara T.Urbandale, IA2 years agoCrowdingSpacingTooth GapOverbiteOverjetI’ve been told basically since my adult teeth came in that I’d need braces. I’ve had a huge gap in my front teeth that I’ve always been super self conscious about, but never wanted to go through with actual metal braces (my brother did and I knew first hand how bad they could suck!) Also as I got older my lower teeth began overcrowding and one tooth was getting severely pushed in. After seeing all the new companies available that offered clear aligners I decided it was finally time to give em a try.
I went with byte because of the overall length of treatment time, cost involved for nighttime, and the user reviews. I spent a long time researching and still feel like I made the best choice.
The impressions were easy to do, just make a couple putty molds of top and bottom teeth, and they had my treatment plan up and running and ready to buy in under a week. My aligners arrived sooner than promised, too (I think around 2-3 weeks.) Their hyperbyte vibrate device was a LIFESAVER when it came to the initial discomfort. You can bank on those first couple days being full of pain! Their device is basically a vibrating mouth piece and I’d recommend buying it regardless of what company you’d use.
My initial treatment was to be 17 sets of upper and lower. Which seemed crazy low since I had a huge gap, but at the end of my 17 sets I easily could have called it finished and my teeth were at exactly what my plan showed. But, since I paid so much for my treatment and they offer a happiness guarantee I let them know there were still a few areas I wasn’t 100% happy with and they really worked with me to make sure I would be.
Initially they had me backtrack a few aligners to see if that helped. My issues were with one of my front teeth still being a little cockeyed (which I still don’t know will ever be fully straight but that’s just due to limitations of aligners period), my bottom teeth not being exactly perfect, and a slight gap in between my canines and incisors that I didn’t care for. Backtracking did help some, to their credit, but was not a fix so they sent me a new impression kit for free and then sent me refinement aligners. I think it took 3 weeks total to get all that done from my asking about refinements to having aligners, SUPER fast turn around considering the amount of new customers they have, and my communication with them was strictly email.
So now I’m in what they call refinements for another 17 sets but realistically if I stopped at any point between now (set 5 of refinements) and the end it was well worth my investment.
I can’t say enough good things about byte, honestly. I don’t know if I just got really great people on my case who replied quickly or what, but my experience has been nothing but positive and I expect it to end positively. The length of time based on my initial expectations doesn’t really matter in the end when my teeth are exactly how I wanted without the cost and pain of actual braces. My overbite/overjet is even vastly improved! I’m really happy and amazed with how my teeth look now.
Helpful?Eric ParhamBronx1 year agoSpacingTooth GapGreat company that walks you through the process from beginning to end. Customer service is compassionate and works with you. They have great monthly payment plan you can afford. My treatment process was easy and comfortable.
Helpful?Marissa B.California1 year agoSpacingTooth GapI did research when i was picking out aligner companies. My sister had started her journey with Byte and her progress was amazing just within a few weeks. I had never been happy with my smile and the ease and payment methods were very appealing to me. I was excited when I could see what my smile was going to look like in the end based on the mold of my mouth I sent in. It was so fun to watch my smile change before my eyes, and gain my confidence. I used to never smile and now I can’t stop smiling!
Helpful?Breanna P.Ohio1 year agoTooth GapI chose aligners because it is a quicker treatment, less costly, and is more visually appealing than braces. I got my aligners through the Byte company because they were more affordable with the same great reviews as other aligners companies. They have met all my expectations. When I damaged one of my aligners they worked really well with me. The only thing I would warn someone about getting aligners is that they can be easily lost and damaged, to replace them through Byte it is $200. Overall it was a good experience.
Helpful?Dannie Lynn M.Seattle, WA1 year agoSpacingTooth GapOverbiteWhen an orthodontist tells you to wear your retainer every night, you should listen. I didn’t. And because of that, I had a gap between my teeth. I wanted to get it fixed, but I’m always traveling, so seeing a dentist for invisible aligners wasn’t really an option. Even so, I was very nervous to try byte, not because of the company or because of invisible aligners, but because I travel so much. In the 12 weeks I had byte, I was on over 45 flights, in three different countries, and in nearly 20 different cities. I was worried that invisible aligners would add unnecessary headache to my travel days – especially trying to use them on long haul flights. However, in reality, byte was very easy to use, even when traveling! Now, I’m much more confident in my smile and love the way it looks. More than that though, I’ve seen my general confidence increase. And the maintenance has been easy too – two years out and my teeth still look as good as they did the day I finished my Byte treatment.
Helpful?Madeline K.Greer1 year agoTooth GapWell, I had braces in high school and got a permanent retainer put in but only on the bottom. So when I lost my retainer a year or so later, I developed a gap between my top two front teeth. I felt bad, seeing as my parents spent thousands to pay to get my teeth fixed. So that made me buy them. I chose this company because my mom had actually bought me the beginning kit. And their prices seemed much cheaper than going through an orthodontic.
They almost completely met my expectations. All I needed done was to close the gap in my teeth. They successfully did that, however when the gap closed, one of my front top two teeth were SLIGHTLY lower than the other. It was because my teeth had definitely gotten off track with the different aligners. I wasn’t sure why bc I wore them religiously.
I was quite supported! From the get go, great customer service. They were quick to get back to me. One time my payment bounced because of a hold of funds on my bank account. So I contacted them to let them know I had gotten the situation taken care of and they responded immediately and successfully subtracted the money from my account.
I totally suggest people going with Byte. I recommended a friend and got a $200 Amazon gift card!! Like as soon as my friend purchased her aligners, I was virtually sent the card!!
What is also amazing is that you get free retainers for life AS LONG as you keep ordering them within a certain time frame.
Unlike me, I suggest you pay upfront for your aligners because I accrued a lot of interest by paying monthly.
They were quite accommodating with my situation, seeing as I only needed the top row fixed. They couldn’t give me a discount since I was doing the payment plan but they gave me a free LED whitening thing!! Worth 200-300 bucks!
Helpful?Matthew OPleasant Grove, UT3 years agoTooth GapI have been looking at doing orthodontia work for years, but never had the time or finances to get it done, until I found Byte. After taking the impression kits at home on my schedule, I got back a 3D digital renderings of how my teeth would adjust. I then decided to give it a shot, after being offered a discount code from the Byte rep. and being informed my insurance would cover 50% of the treatment.
The product and treatment went great, My teeth turned as expected. My only reason for 4 stars, is there insurance customer service department must not have every really checked with my insurance company because they denied the claim saying they do not cover at home tele-dentistry. After several emails, and phone calls, to Byte’s head of customer service I finally gave up and called it s lost of $800 because it wasn’t worth my time to keep fighting.
Over all products are great, just do your own research with your insurance before hand.
Helpful?Karin B.Washington, DC2 years agoSpacingTooth GapByte has been the easiest, best decision I could have made for my smile. My dentist quoted me over 5k for Invisalign and I immediately looked into other options. byte makes it so easy to take your impressions at home, mail them back and track them. My favorite feature was the 3D modeling they send of your mouth before ordering the retainers,
I haven’t worn retainers since middle school, so getting back into the swing of things wasn’t easy. But I’ve gotten used to having them in now, 22 hours a day if I can.
Helpful?Stephanie A.Bixby, OK1 year agoSpacingTooth GapI have always wanted braces but couldn’t afford them. I did some research and saved some money and decided it was time to order. I looked at all options for braces, including brackets and wires and overall, clear aligners made the most sense, financially and practically. Not only are they significantly cheaper, going through an online service allowed much more freedom (time wise) to complete treatment at home with no additional in office visits. Given that I did not have significant tooth alignment issues and really only needed to correct spacing issues and a front tooth gap, clear aligners through an online company was a good fit for me. After extensive research, Byte had the best support services, was the most cost effective, had great reviews and a lifetime guarantee which were all important aspects of treatment for me. So far, treatment has gone okay. I have had some issues come up with my aligners and some disconnect with the company, however they have continued to try to correct the issues. Most recently, they sent another mold for new aligners to ensure my treatment continues as expected. Advice I would give to someone considering Byte would be stay on top of your treatment and consistently engage with the team. They are willing to help, but will not reach out.
Helpful?Sam StoneBristol, CT1 year agoSpacingTooth GapFor 29 years I’ve had spacing that I’ve always been self conscious of, I decided to go with byte because they were a cheaper option. I’ve had a pleasant experience with byte both with customer service and my treatment plan. I’ve been able to switch aligners every 7 days as instructed and have already completed my bottom trays. I have noticed that spacing seems to be an easy fix, I’ve seen that some people trying to fix a crowding issue need multiple refinements at times and go well beyond the 7 days before switching trays. I definitely recommend byte if you’re fixing a spacing issue.
Helpful?Kerri R.Shipman2 years agoCrowdingSpacingTooth GapI decided to purchase clear aligners because I was hoping to correct my crowding on my bottom teeth and spacing on my top teeth. I chose Byte because they had the lowest price in the shortest amount of time. I also chose Byte because of their smile guarantee. The impression kit was a bit uncomfortable, but I was able to make the impressions without issues. Customer support was great throughout my journey and my questions were answered promptly and professionally. I am very pleased with my Byte journey and would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t feel 100% about their smile. I am very excited to be completed with mine in just 3-4 weeks!
Helpful?Joshua LandisAlbany, OR1 year agoCrowdingSpacingTooth GapI was impressed by the speed of the overall process. I thought the company did a great job of communicating, but I don’t think they were as quick as I expected a company to be. This is a great product for someone like me who had orthodontia when they were younger and then stopped wearing retainers and needed to get their smile back to perfect. I appreciated how easy the process was, and how much cheaper it was then going to a traditional orthodontist. The biggest thing to know is that there are many different companies that offer similar products and it’s hard to know which one is perfect for you I really liked byte and their Appliance to vibrate your teeth and make the retainers fit better.
Helpful?Johnathan R.USA1 year agoTooth GapFirst of all, I decided to get aligners because the gap in between my front teeth was beginning to make me self conscious. Deciding on the company I would go with led to me looking at multiple reviews of different companies with practically the same product and cost. However, I chose Byte due to their exceptional reviews on customer service. The entire treatment process was easy-going and byte was there along the way. I wouldn’t say that I’m 100% satisfied because there is still a small gap. However, it is much better than it was and I’m glad I went through with the process.
Helpful?Alex S.Akron, OH2 years agoTooth GapI chose Byte because of the pricing and reviews which were better than some of the other invisible aligned companies. The impression kit was easy to use and the directions were clear. Shipping was always very fast. Customer service was great and I always received an email back within the same day. I really loved the teeth whitening/ aligner cleaning solution the kit came with. Definitely recommend Byte!
Helpful?Kelsey J.Menasha, WI1 year agoSpacingTooth GapOverbiteI decided to purchase aligners because I had gotten married the previous year, and you won’t see me smiling in any of my wedding pictures. I hate smiling. Always have. I figured, I’m almost 30, it’s time to take control of my smile. It’s not going to change on its own. Byte has answered every question I’ve had, as soon as they could. The kit was straight forward and easy. They keep up with monthly updates and when I mentioned discomfort, they reached out to me with ways to help with any pain I was experiencing. I may not have had them on long, but I find myself smiling, all time. I smiled for a picture for the first time yesterday. And it’s only a small difference, probably small enough that I notice. Each teeth aligner switch comes with a small motivational note inside. My most recent said “people are starting to notice your smile.”
Helpful?Mary G.Jacksonville, Florida3 years agoSpacingTooth GapI looked into clear aligners for a few years because I wanted the front gap closed for longer than I can remember. I was leaning toward Invisalign and Smile Direct Club. Last year after giving up on those two because of cost and bad reviews, I started looking into Byte. Having a dentist as the face of the company caught my eye plus they had good reviews so I felt it would be good to go with Byte.
They emailed my weekly almost about continuing with treatment and if I had any questions, which made me feel they would be the same when I got the plan. It was at times but when I really needed to be helped, I felt like I was being ignored.
Everytime I had an issue it was like pulling teeth with tweezers to get them to take care of it. I usually email customer care with most companies because I usually work business hours but with them with issues I had to call because I honestly felt as if I was being ignored. I would send an email and after the normal 24 to 48 hours there was no response but in the mist of an issue I got one email to order retainers and another to review Byte for some whitening foam.
Unfortunately, I needed refinements because the treatment was messing up my bite and the plan was rotating one tooth to the side to close the gap but that was not the plan I agreed to. After weeks of back and forth, I got the impression kit, sent it off, got a new plan, and was told they would be expedited because of all the time spent trying to get in touch with them to even get that far. The normal time is about four weeks, I waited almost two months and had to call them to have it sent. They expedited that time and I got the email about it being shipped the next day. Sadly, the manufacturer completely messed up the aligners and was sent back to square one because they would not have the manufacturer reprint them. I went through the whole process and it has been over 4 months and I am still waiting. They said this time it would be expedited but it has not been over a month and still nothing.
I put my issue on IG and someone from Byte wrote and said they will look into it and get back to me and it has been a week and nothing. I was in the same aligners for almost 4 months with the company not having any noticeable sense of urgency to take care of the issue. Those aligners have since cracked so now I am back a week in aligners again. Since this was after the impressions were done I told them, they said it will be fine, however that is what they said about every issue and it turned out to not be.
I really wish I could recommend Byte but I wouldn’t want to be responsible for anyone feeling ignored and disappointed in an experience as I have been.
Helpful?Christina C.Irvington, NJ3 years agoSpacingSnaggletoothTooth GapOverbiteI had originally started with SmileDirect but switched to Byte because of the lifetime guarantee to fix my teeth if I ever became unsatisfied with the way my teeth looked. I loved the thought of the treatment plan only being 3 months rather than the typical 6 months. I do experience some pain and sensitivity when switching to the new set of aligners but the HyperByte makes a HUGE difference when it comes to dealing with the pain. The Byte team has always been super responsive and helpful. If I reach out to them via email the maximum amount of time it takes to hear back is 1-2 days. I love the progress that I see in my teeth and I would recommend Byte 10 times over.

I was positively surprised by how fast they were at responding to be when I had questions about my treatment. One advice is to make sure you stay on top of the requirements they have when you have to order your retainer every so often to keep the guarantee. I forgot to do this and I couldn’t get more retainers.
