Can SmileDirectClub Correct Tooth Gaps? Customer Results

I used SDC to fix a large front gap and some smaller gaps on my bottom teeth. Overall, I am satisfied and my teeth are way better than they were after a 5-month plan and 1 set of refinements. However, SDC is definitely not the quality that you’d expect from working with a traditional orthodontist.

The good:
– I chose SDC due to the cheaper price compared to Invisalign and braces. Convenient payment plans are available in addition to occasional discounts.
– The scans in the smile shop are painless and also kind of cool to look at.
– Packaging is great and aligners are well organized.
– You can keep asking for refinements until you’re satisfied, or until they say they can’t help anymore. I only had one set of refinements before I felt satisfied enough.
– With all of the extra brushing and flossing, my teeth have never been so white.
– My teeth were sensitive for the first few days of each aligner, but not unbearable. Enough where I wouldn’t want to chew on my front teeth but not enough to stop me from eating anything I wanted to.
– I ate way less. I kept thinking “is this worth the brushing and flossing?”

The bad:
– Do NOT expect incredible customer service. I ended up with THREE pairs of free retainers due to their customer service miscommunications, including having an appointment at a Smile Shop when the building was closed. I honestly had the best luck with talking to their Twitter account rather than calling or emailing.
– You’ll need to invest in dental wax, Tylenol, and something to file your aligners with. Sometimes they’ll tear up your mouth.
– You do NOT have constant monitoring by your doctor. You have ONE 90-day check-in where you send in photos. It’s kind of up to you to decide whether you need to talk to SDC or your dentist if things aren’t right.
– Have your smile plan reviewed before you start! Luckily, I did not have problems before or after with my bite. However, I have seen SDC create smile plans resulting in terrible crossbites. Fixing bites is not their priority.
– The Smile Shop employees are VERY pushy. You don’t have to sign up at the shop, though they will definitely try to make you. I’d recommend waiting to receive your smile plan.

I chose Smile Direct Club because of the price and the fact that there was the option to just wear the aligners for 10 hours at night. This eliminated the problem of having to take them out and clean them every time you eat or drink. I have always had a gap between my front teeth that I was self-conscious about. The process of ordering them was very easy and customer support was always quick to answer any questions I had. I finished my aligners in September and since my teeth aren’t exactly as I had hoped (still a gap in the front), I contacted smile direct club and they are sending me some refinements (more aligners) to help me further close the gap in my front teeth. Hopefully this will do the trick!

Basically I want to say that these are painful. The worst part about them is the pain and cleaning them. I am a germophobe and I swear it grosses me out to look at them after I take them out. But if you can get through the pain and the grossness you can have some great results!! I have been at it for a while, because I had to take a break due to a loss in the family and my mental health but I am back on the train now. I had to go back a few aligners because my teeth shifted back. My dentist is happy with my progress and said that I will need a permanent retainer after this is over. I will be happy to pay for it because I dont want this work to go for nothing. Keep in mind my photos arent final (:

I decided to get aligners because I was insecure about the gap between my two front teeth. Honestly, what made me choose Smile Direct Club is because they had an ongoing promotion! Plus they had options for overnight aligners, since all day ones were NOT for me. I was a little surprised by how much the first night hurt, but thankfully the pain eased quickly! Nowadays, I’m just surprised by how fast it goes! I’m already halfway done my treatment and it feels like I just started. If there’s any advice I’d give, it’s not to be put off by the initial discomfort! It passes quickly, and it’s totally worth it. Already, I see a world of difference, and my confidence has definitely improved. I’d definitely recommend!

I decided to purchase aligners because I knew I did not want to have braces again. Since the aligners are clear I felt more confident. I chose this provider because I had a coupon. It was also very easy to sign up with this company. There is minimal discomfort and I feel like I’ve had results pretty fast. If I could give any advice it would be to just make sure you wear your aligner a lot!

One of the best things about Smile Direct is their cost. Compared to the competitors, this is why I chose them. I did a TON of research before I started so I was prepared for all of the “what ifs” that could arise. Everything was super straight forward in the process from beginning to end. I am so glad I spent those hours researching the process. Up until now, I really didn’t have any confidence in my smile. After 6 months of treatment plus 4 more of refinements, my smile is vastly improved. I don’t have any real complaints outside of the fact that I had to have refinements. If you have done your research you will see this is common. In fact, a lot of people have to do refinements with traditional braces too. It is not super uncommon.

This was a tough experience but I say go for it. I had a lot of issues with pain and I ended up taking a LOT of tylenol and asprin for headaches and stuff but at the end I was happy. The whitening kit I saved for the end for a “final result” and wow it works great and didnt make my teeth sensitive. the only bad part was really the pain from the new aligners when I had to switch them up. But really works great, 2 thumbs up!

I chose SmileDirectClub because of the lifelong front gap I had. I have wanted to get rid of it all of my life. It was so easy with them, from the moment I walked into one of their stores and when I received the aligners. I have recommended SmileDirectClub to everyone that has asked.

I wanted to fix a small spacing issue on my upper teeth. Given the fact that this was a minor cosmetic issue that would not have any funcional implications, I opted to try this one out as opposed to paying (3000-7000) dollars for invisalign, which according to many reviews should be the safest option for a more complex case.

To start out, I ordered the at home impression kit, which came incomplete so I couldn’t send in my impressions, then had to find a studio where they would do the scan (that was a one hour drive from my home) it went well, everyone was super friendly and helpful and I made it very clear that I wanted to get clear aligners, ONLY on my upper teeth. She said there was no problem and I should wait for the aligners to arrive on the mail to start my treatment. Once I got them I realized they designed a plan to work on both my upper and lower teeth so I called them and asked, can I just wear the upper ones? They said absolutely not as the plan was meant to work on my upper and lower teeth simultaneously and only using the upper one would result in modification of my bite. So I said, this is not what I asked for, can you please fix it? once again they asked me to do a new scan. Went in, got it… and this is when most of the drama started, I would call to ask why they hadn’t shipped my aligners and there response was, we will connect you with the clinical team, they would put me on hold for a long time, put me with a different person every time and I would have to tell them the whole story, they would say, well, we just need your ok to send you your upper and lower aligners, to which I replied: No, I requested only upper ones… then they said oh I am sorry, you are correct, we will fix this and contact you as soon as we get your plan redesign. They never called, it was me who called two weeks in a row, reliving the same call where it wasn’t clear what had happened and I had to explain over and over again what I was requesting. One day, I was just fed up with the poor communication/customer service, and I just called to get my money back. Once I said that some manager magically said oh yes, we have your upper teeth plan ready and set to go, we just need you to give us the ok. From then on, I received my plan, my treatment, and everything went pretty smooth. The starting kit was very complete, the retainers were not painful to wear (as I remember braces hurt so bad…) and after four months, I was all set with my new smile. I want to say the quality of the product was great but the disconnection between their clinical team and their customer services was just awful.
