They don’t seem to have their own manufacturing division, and on the surface, they’re kind of a mystery — we’ve tried to access their website, but it’s been under construction for a while.

That might sound like a red flag, and if we hadn’t done more research on the product, it would have worried us too. However, MagicBrite is well-reviewed by customers, and the majority are thrilled with the results it delivers.

Of course, just having lots of happy customers isn’t enough to set a product apart from the rest. So, how does MagicBrite stand out? By giving you the freedom to use it whenever you’d like, while most other teeth whitening systems require you to use them every day for 5–10 days in a row.

When you use their kit, you can go days, even weeks, between whitening sessions, so your busy schedule doesn’t need to stand between you and a brighter smile. This also makes it easier on people with sensitive teeth and gums.

Pros & Cons of MagicBrite

MagicBrite is an excellent teeth whitening kit, but it has both major benefits and notable shortcomings. Here’s a look at the biggest ones.

Effectiveness

What good is a whitening product if it doesn’t lighten your teeth by at least a few shades? Luckily, MagicBrite often delivers on the brightness they promise.

According to the company, “MagicBrite will magically make your smile sparkle and shine in just a few treatments.” It might not be magic, but according to customer reviews, it certainly is effective. Most reviewers noticed a difference in their teeth after just one use, though for some, it took a few applications to achieve the desired look.

The power behind MagicBrite is carbamide peroxide. This is a highly effective whitening agent used in both at-home and professional treatments. MagicBrite uses a 35% concentration, which roughly equates to an 11.5% concentration of hydrogen peroxide. That might not seem like a big number, but most at-home whitening kits that use hydrogen peroxide keep their concentration around 6%–10%. This is much less than in-office solutions, which can use as much as a 40% hydrogen peroxide concentration, but it’s a powerful formula for a DIY kit.

While most people see results in just 1–2 uses, MagicBrite isn’t clear on how long it takes to see full results. That said, the kit has enough gel for nine whitening sessions and is designed to follow your unique schedule and smile goals. So, if you whiten your teeth five days in a row, you will likely see results sooner than someone who uses the kit just once a week.

The company suggests whitening twice a week, 15 minutes per session, until your teeth reach your ideal level of whiteness. If you aren’t experiencing sensitivity, you can whiten on consecutive days. Otherwise, take a few days off in between sessions. Once you have your results, you can maintain your smile with occasional whitening sessions, perhaps 1–2 times per month.

Affordability

Compared to dentist-directed whitening treatments, at-home kits are vastly more affordable — and MagicBrite has one of the lowest prices in the industry.

In-office whitening usually costs a minimum of $300, and depending on the system and doctor you select, it could cost more than $1,000. MagicBrite, on the other hand, will only cost you about $12.

Any time you encounter a low price tag, you have to ask yourself: does this offer a great value, or is it just cheap? As it ends up, MagicBrite offers a pretty solid value. For just $12, you get:

MagicBrite includes quite a bit for the price. Their whitening kit comes with more goodies than many of their competitors, even those with much higher price tags.

Each session uses 1 ml of whitening gel (0.5 ml per arch). The whitening kit comes with 9 ml of whitening gel, so you’ll have enough for nine total sessions.

The LED light is reusable, though, so once you run out of gel, you can just purchase more serum instead of a full kit. However, since the price is so low, you can always just purchase a new kit every time you want to whiten. In fact, if you buy through Amazon you can subscribe, which decreases the price between 5%-10%.

In the end, MagicBrite offers the lowest price tag for an LED whitening kit and delivers plenty of value as well.

Quality of Ingredients

MagicBrite is effective, but if you want to know how, exactly, it whitens your teeth so effectively, take a look at the ingredients.

Most at-home whitening kits will have one of two whitening agents in their gel: hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. Each company enhances the agent with supplementary ingredients to increase its effectiveness — and hopefully make the whitening gel more pleasant to use. MagicBrite’s whitening gel contains:

• Carbamide peroxide (35%)
• Glycerol (24%)
• Propylene Glycol (19%)
• Deionized Water (14%)
• Carbomer (3%)
• Carboxymethyl (2%)
• Triethanolamine (1.5%)

Unlike most other whitening products, MagicBrite actually discloses all the percentages of their ingredients, which we really appreciate. Overall, there is nothing on the list that stands out; they’re all common additives for whitening kits.

MagicBrite also includes vitamin E swabs, which are meant to help prevent gum and lip sensitivity. These contain glycerol (58%), propylene glycol (41.95%), and vitamin E (.05%).

While the gel might be the most important part of the kit, the materials in the mouth trays can also make a difference too. Unfortunately, MagicBrite is not as transparent about this as they are the ingredients in their gel and swabs. Aside from customers commenting that they are somewhat flimsy, we couldn’t find any concrete information about the composition of their trays.

Convenience

Whitening your smile adds to your confidence, but it also adds to your schedule. Fortunately, MagicBrite accommodates busy schedules like no other home whitening kit on the market, making them a highly convenient option.

The most difficult part of MagicBrite’s system is customizing the trays to your teeth. Bring 8 oz of water to a boil, then let it cool slightly before placing the trays in the water for 10-15 seconds. After removing them from the water, pop them into your mouth and bite down firmly, sucking out the air and water as you do. Keep them in place for about 3-5 seconds and then remove them — do NOT let them cool on your teeth because they can get stuck.

It’s not an overly complicated process, but there is room for error. Luckily, as long as you don’t shrink them by using water that’s too hot, you can reheat the trays and redo the fit a few times.

Once you have the trays ready, things get much easier. To use the kit, you apply 0.5 ml gel inside each of the trays, spreading it evenly throughout the entire mouthpiece using the syringe tip. Once the trays have an even coating of gel, pop them in, put in the light, and turn it on. Keep the trays and light in place for 5-15 minutes, depending on the timeframe that works best for you. After removing them, rinse your mouth with water, brush your teeth, and clean the trays.

MagicBrite lets you set your own whitening schedule. So if you are super busy and just have one evening a week to whiten your teeth, that’s what you do. Plus, with whitening sessions as short as five minutes each, MagicBrite demands less of your time per session. It’s also highly portable, so you can use it in almost any setting. For best results, avoid eating or drinking for about 20 minutes after each use.

Comfort

Full disclosure: no whitening product is perfectly comfortable. There will always be something that feels awkward — gel from strips, bulky trays, chapped lips, the taste of peroxide. MagicBrite’s physical components are fairly comfortable, but it might not be the best option for those with sensitive teeth.

Let’s start with the LED light. Many whitening kits will design their LED light so it either attaches directly to the whitening trays or you have to hold it. MagicBrite takes a different approach: you hold it in place with your lips. This gives your arms and hands a break but requires you to engage your facial muscles throughout each treatment. If you only whiten for five minutes at a time, this isn’t so bad, but doing so for 15 minutes can potentially leave you with a tired mouth.

The trays, however, are pretty comfortable to wear. Since they are molded to your teeth, they’re not as bulky as universal-fit mouthpieces. You can also trim them at the gumline so they don’t overlap, which increases your comfort and stops the gel from irritating your gums. The trays are flexible, but not too soft, so they don’t strain the teeth.

If you ever start to feel uncomfortable during a whitening session, you’re free to stop and try again another day. You also only need to whiten for five minutes — far less than kits that require 30–60 minutes each session.

Perhaps the biggest downside of MagicBrite in terms of comfort is that it’s not designed for people with sensitive teeth. You can somewhat mitigate sensitivity by taking more days between sessions, but people with pre-existing tooth sensitivity report experiencing pain after even a single use.
