Wondersmile scores 4.3/5 overall based on our five review criteria (effectiveness, affordability, convenience, appearance, and customer support), making them our #4-rated home teeth alignment service (Byte is #1).

If you want a well-rounded company who provides high-quality aligners at reasonable prices, Wondersmile could be the right fit for you. They work solely with orthodontists, their photo check-ins ensure reliable results, and they back their results with a lifetime guarantee.

WonderSmile vs. Byte (Our #1-Ranked Provider)

Wondersmile is a reliable treatment option, but if you’re looking for the best value overall, Byte is difficult to beat.

The best option for you depends on your specific goals, condition, and budget, but we think Byte’s efficiency and exceptional customer support make them a fantastic choice for almost anyone looking to make cosmetic teeth shifts. For a more detailed look at Byte, check out our in-depth review below.

What Is WonderSmile?

Important Notice: As of June 3rd, WonderSmile's website and social pages appear to have gone offline. We are hearing rumors that the company has gone out of business. We will provide an update as soon as we learn more. If you are a current WonderSmile customer and have any further insight, please let us know by sending us an email at admin@smileprep.com.

Boasting numerous locations across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the U.K., Wondersmile has an extensive international reach. They ship personalized, Invisalign-esque aligners directly to your doorstep, which lets you shift your teeth from home. These invisible aligners perfectly match the contours of your teeth, so you can wear them out confidently in public. And the best part? Unless you get a dental scan at one of their clinics, Wondersmile treatment doesn’t incorporate any office visits. Instead, their orthodontists will design and monitor your treatment remotely.

Wondersmile is part of a crop of new teledentistry services like Byte and EZ Smile, so they’re not the only option out there. However, their multiple wear schedules and payment options, along with their affordable prices, make them a popular choice.

Wondersmile has attempted to separate themselves from the pack by offering orthodontist-directed care and more flexible services, including various physical locations, different payment plans, and nighttime-only treatment.

Like other home-based clear aligner products, Wondersmile is primarily a cosmetic treatment. Their aligners can only correct mild-to-moderate cases of spacing and crowding, along with some minor bite conditions. If your case is severe, you may see better results from a treatment plan managed in-person by a dentist, like braces or Invisalign.

How Does WonderSmile Work?

Wondersmile’s orthodontists can’t shift your teeth if they can’t see them, so getting a teeth scan is the first step. The company has clinics in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia (plus more locations on the way). Schedule an appointment with the clinic nearest you to get started. During this 15-minute visit, a scan specialist will perform an intraoral scan of your teeth, then send it off to the dental team for analysis. If you would rather skip the office visit, you can make impressions of your own teeth at home using their DIY mold-making kit.

Wondersmile’s orthodontists will evaluate your smile and determine whether or not you’re a suitable candidate for treatment. If so, they’ll create a digital preview showing how your teeth will move during treatment. If everything looks good, let them know and they’ll manufacture your aligners. But if you have reservations, there’s no obligation to continue. Throughout your treatment, you’ll need to send photos of your teeth so their team can ensure you’re progressing as expected.

WonderSmile Pros & Cons

Before you decide to move forward with Wondersmile treatment, weigh the benefits and drawbacks to make sure it’s the right fit for you. We’ve sifted through the details and compiled a list of the most important pros & cons.

WonderSmile Pros

  • Wondersmile’s clinical team consists solely of orthodontists, the industry’s most specialized professionals. Treatment still isn’t as intensive as in-person care, but it’s reassuring to know that you’ll have highly knowledgeable experts designing your treatment.
  • If the thought of wearing your aligners 22+ hours per day makes you nervous, Wondersmile offers a nighttime-only alternative called NightClear that requires just ten hours of overnight wear.
  • Wondersmile has clinics across Australia where you can get your teeth scanned. This process is often easier than taking dental impressions on your own, although that’s always an option as well.
  • If your crowding or spacing condition is confined to teeth on only one arch (top or bottom), you can get aligners for just that arch, and Wondersmile will reduce your price by $500.
  • Their Lifetime Guarantee will provide refinements for free, as long as you continue replacing and wearing your retainers as directed.

WonderSmile Cons

  • Wondersmile doesn’t include a set of aftercare retainers in the cost of your treatment, so you’ll need to purchase them separately for $99 per set.
  • At $2,690 Wondersmile’s pricing is higher than some of their at-home competitors, although it’s still more affordable than in-office treatments like Invisalign.
  • Unlike in-office options, which can correct a wide range of severe misalignments, Wondersmile can only treat mild and moderate cases of crowding and spacing.

So, Do the Pros Outweigh the Cons?

We think so! WonderSmile offers premium-quality care for an affordable price. Anyone looking for a well-balanced treatment and flexible financing will find them with WonderSmile.

Effectiveness

Orthodontic treatment is an investment, so you don’t want to dive in without being sure that it can deliver the results you’re after.

Home aligners are typically only effective for mild and moderate cases of crowding and spacing, and Wondersmile is no different. If you have a more severe condition, like a jaw misalignment, you’re probably better off going with an in-office treatment like Invisalign. But if you’re a good candidate for Wondersmile, you’ll receive quality, products, orthodontist-directed treatment, and regular oversight.

To ensure patient safety and great results, Wondersmile uses a team of orthodontists to create your treatment plan.

When you start a new orthodontic treatment, you likely want to know who’s pulling the strings. Why? Because teeth straightening is a delicate process and the person overseeing your care can have a big influence on its outcome.

Wondersmile understands this, which is why all of their treatment plans are designed with the assistance of orthodontists. Compared to general dentists, orthodontists have more specialized training in the art of moving teeth. They have the technical know-how and experience to evaluate your face, neck, jaw, and teeth, then develop an effective solution. Dentists are definitely qualified individuals, but they don’t have the same level of specialization.

By requiring regular photo check-ins, Wondersmile ensures that your treatment will stay on track.

Every month throughout your treatment, you’ll upload photos of your teeth to your patient portal so that Wondersmile can make sure everything is progressing as expected and adjust your timeline if necessary. Plus, it will give you the peace of mind that licensed professionals are examining your teeth every step of the way.

This oversight isn’t as robust as the office visits you’ll get with Invisalign, but it still allows Wondersmile’s orthodontists to monitor your progress and watch for any potential problems. Straight Teeth Direct, SmileDirectClub, and PlusDent have similar monitoring procedures, which help to keep your treatment on track.

It’s unclear who manufactures Wondersmile aligners.

Product and material quality are just as important as the person directing your treatment. Even a perfect treatment plan can fall short if the products are faulty or ineffective. That’s why some at-home clear aligner companies promote their partnerships with established, widely trusted manufacturers. However, we couldn’t find who produces Wondersmile’s products — they might outsource their production, or they might create them in-house.

Because Wondersmile doesn’t reveal where and how they manufacture their aligners, it’s hard to evaluate their product quality. The results we’ve seen in online reviews would suggest that they have consistent and reliable manufacturing practices, but we can’t say for sure.

Wondersmile cuts their aligners straight across (rather than trimmed to match the gum line), making them more powerful.

Some companies trim their aligners to match your gum line while others, like Wondersmile, cut them straight across the top. There are advantages to each method.

When applying in-office clear aligner treatments like Invisalign, dentists often place attachments on the teeth, holding the aligners in place. This is how Invisalign trays exert significant force, even though they’re trimmed to follow the gumline.

Since a dentist needs to install these attachments in person, fully-remote treatments like Wondersmile can’t use them. This might seem like a drawback, but in some ways, it’s actually an advantage. Straight-cut aligners use the gums as an anchor to apply more force than scalloped aligners, no attachments necessary. However, many people prefer the appearance of scalloped aligners because there isn’t any plastic covering your gums.

The accuracy of in-person teeth scans and the expertise of their dental team inspires confidence in Wondersmile’s effectiveness, although it would still be nice to know who produces their aligners.

Affordability

Historically, the high price tag for braces and Invisalign has made teeth alignment a substantial financial burden, which is why adults have recently gravitated toward home aligner services. Invisalign might cost you $4,500-9,000, while Wondersmile treatment costs much less. Compared to their at-home competitors, however, they’re on the higher end of the price spectrum.

The total cost of a Wondersmile aligner kit is $2,690 (or $2,760 for NightClear treatment), which is a bit higher than average for mail-order clear aligners.

This sticker price covers the cost of your teeth scan or at-home molds, treatment plan, clear aligners, and monthly oversight. It does not, however, cover your aftercare retainers, which you’ll need to purchase separately for $99 per set.

We should also note that Wondersmile will only cover the cost of your teeth impressions if you end up purchasing aligners. They will simply take it out of your total treatment price. If you decide against purchasing their aligners, Wondersmile won’t refund the $80 fee for in-office scanning or the $45 fee for DIY at-home molds (unless they determine you’re not a candidate for treatment).

Wondersmile offers financing plans that don’t include interest.

Don’t have a spare $2,690 lying around? Not many do. But don’t worry, Wondersmile offers a financing plan to make their treatment more accessible. And it doesn’t include interest, so you’ll pay the same amount you would if you paid for everything upfront.

Here’s how it works: you pay a minimum 15% down payment ($403.50 for All-Day aligners and $414 for NightClear) then make monthly payments of at least $179 ($184 for NightClear) until you reach the full amount. The only downside is that this plan requires a credit check, so not everyone qualifies.

If you only need treatment on one arch, you’ll get a discount.

Some people only have crowding/spacing in their top or bottom teeth. If Wondersmile determines that you only need treatment for one arch (and it won’t affect your bite), you’ll get $500 off your treatment. It’s rarely an option, but it’s still a possibility, and $500 is a significant discount.

Clear aligner treatment isn’t cheap, but Wondersmile takes steps to help mitigate the impact on your wallet. They charge slightly more than some competitors, but their financing plan can make that price more reasonable. All things considered, their treatment is pretty affordable.

Convenience

Aside from the cost, one of the biggest barriers to pursuing a more comfortable smile is the time commitment of traditional orthodontics. Let’s face it: you’re busy. On top of work, sport, and study, you’ve got a social life to maintain. And when you find a precious bit of free time, you probably don’t want to spend it at the dentist’s office. If you choose home aligners, you won’t have to.

Wondersmile and other home aligner companies cut office visits completely out of the equation. And you’ll likely see your final results in 6–9 months, compared to Invisalign’s 12-month timeline and the average 18 months that braces require.

When it comes to convenience, Wondersmile steals the show from both braces and Invisalign. Even compared to other at-home services, their streamlined startup procedures and relative efficiency make it a solid choice.

Wondersmile clinics make it super easy to get your treatment started.

Most at-home teeth straightening companies sell impression kits that allow customers to make moulds of their teeth at home. Remote dental teams use these moulds to evaluate your smile and create your treatment plan, so they have to be very accurate, which is difficult if you’ve never used an impression kit before.

If you would rather have a professional scan your teeth, you can visit a Wondersmile clinic, where a scan specialist will handle it for you. This is a faster, simpler, and more precise option, but if you don’t live near a clinic (they’re mainly confined to large cities), you’ll either need to travel to the nearest one or purchase an impression kit.

Currently, Wondersmile has eighteen clinics across Australia, so if you live in or near a city, you’ll likely have one nearby. But they also have plans to expand, so there might be more locations in the future.

Photo check-ins improve Wondersmile’s effectiveness but take a bit more work.

As we mentioned earlier, you’ll need to send photos of your teeth to Wondersmile’s dental and orthodontic team each month so that they can monitor your progress. This helps keep your treatment on track, but it also requires a little more work on your end. That said, taking and sending a few photos each month is a small price to pay for more reliable treatment, so it’s worth it. Just make sure you don’t forget!

Start to finish, treatment takes 6–9 months on average.

From the day you insert your first aligner until you see your ideal smile in the mirror will be around six months. And if you choose the NightClear option, it’s more like nine. Of course, this assumes that you follow your treatment plan diligently and wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day (or ten hours per night for NightClear).

A six-month timeline is fairly average for home aligner treatment, so Wondersmile is just as fast as most other options.

Teeth whitening is not included as part of your treatment.

Some at-home clear aligner companies will throw in free whitening products when you purchase aligners so you can straighten and whiten your smile simultaneously. Wondersmile, however, does not. If you’d like to make your teeth sparkle, you’ll need to purchase their $149 kit separately or look at other whitening options. Be sure to confirm that the whitening you get is compatible with your aligners. Some contain chemicals that can damage them!

Wondersmile’s retail locations streamline the startup process, and their treatment times are on par with most of their at-home competitors.

Appearance

When it comes to teeth straightening treatments, most adults agree: the less visible, the better. They don’t want to attend business meetings, dates, or special occasions sporting visible metal brackets. Aligner companies pride themselves on their discreet products, so all clear aligners tend to excel aesthetically, and Wondersmile is no exception.

While all clear aligners use medical-grade, BPA-free plastic, variations in manufacturing processes cause each brand to look slightly different. Consider your specific tastes and style as you evaluate each one.

Wondersmile crafts their aligners with smooth, transparent plastic.

Wondersmile believes clear aligners should be 100% transparent, which is a logical conclusion. After all, you want them to be invisible, right? So, their aligners are completely clear instead of slightly textured or “frosted” like SmileDirectClub or Invisalign. It might seem counterintuitive, but textured aligners are often less visible than smooth, clear ones because they better match the natural surfaces of your teeth.

Your teeth are porous and appear matte rather than completely smooth, so smooth aligners can make them seem artificially shiny. But everyone has a different style and some people actually like the way these aligners add a little gleam to their smiles.

They also cut their aligners straight across, which makes them slightly more noticeable.

In the “Effectiveness” section, we mentioned that Wondersmile’s aligners are cut straight across at the top (rather than scalloped to follow the gum line), which affects their appearance and effectiveness. Some people may notice where your aligners and gums overlap, but most customers don’t find straight-cut aligners to be significantly more visible than scalloped ones.

Wondersmile aligners cannot incorporate attachments, maintaining their low profile.

One reason Invisalign and other in-office aligners can treat such severe misalignments is because they can incorporate attachments like elastics or buttons that they affix to your teeth. These attachments make them a lot more powerful, but also more visible.

Dentists can only place attachments during office visits, so home aligners like Wondersmile can’t use them. But that also means there are no extra bumps or hardware on your teeth.

You’ll want to take out your aligners before eating & drinking to avoid stains.

All clear aligners are susceptible to food and beverage stains — that’s why it’s important to remove them before eating or drinking anything besides water. Wondersmile aligners are reasonably stain-resistant, although we certainly wouldn’t recommend drinking coffee, red wine, or other dark liquids while wearing them.

Wondersmile’s smooth, straight-cut aligners are much more discreet than braces, but might be slightly more visible than aligners from other companies.

Customer Experience

When you choose at-home aligner treatment, you’ll be working directly with the company, not a specific dentist like you would with Invisalign. So you want a company who will treat you right — provide helpful answers, address your concerns, and deliver on their promises.

In-office treatment is the gold standard for customer care, since you’ll have face-to-face interactions with dentists and staff who know you personally. Even though it’s hard for remote services to match that individualization, Wondersmile does an admirable job.

Wondersmile’s customer service is typically prompt and helpful, and they have an outstanding reputation for customer satisfaction.

If you have a question or concern, you can call or email Wondersmile’s support team, who is available from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week. They will also respond to customers on social media. But unlike other at-home options, they don’t have a mobile app or webchat feature.

Most of the online reviews we found came from satisfied customers who frequently praised the high quality and excellent responsiveness of Wondersmile’s support team. Some reviewers wish that Wondersmile would issue refunds quicker after determining that they weren’t a suitable candidate for treatment, but those complaints are rare.

Wondersmile’s dental team will evaluate your smile on a regular basis.

During your treatment, you’ll need to submit monthly photos of your teeth. But these don’t just go into a digital file somewhere — Wondersmile’s orthodontists review them to make sure that your teeth are moving as planned. This way, they can identify and address potential problems before they escalate enough to derail your treatment.

Wondersmile will provide refinements if you’re unhappy with your results, and they put a lifetime guarantee on your new smile.

Even after reading positive online reviews, you might have that nagging thought at the back of your mind: what if it doesn’t work? It’s a common concern, but one that Wondersmile addresses with refunds, refinements, and an extensive warranty.

If you’re not a good candidate for treatment, they’ll refund your teeth scan fee, and if you receive broken or faulty products, they’ll refund those as well. You can also receive a full refund within 30 days of getting your aligners if you change your mind right away.

Sometimes teeth just don’t move as expected, and if you don’t achieve the smile shown in your initial treatment preview by the end of your treatment, Wondersmile will provide refinement aligners to finish the job. This is assuming that you followed your wear instructions carefully and completed all your required photo check-ins.

Wondersmile keeps protecting your smile, even after you’ve finished your treatment. Their Lifetime Guarantee will provide new aligners if your teeth ever shift out of place, as long as you purchase new retainers at least once every six months and wear them as directed.

Even though they can’t match the personalization of in-office care, Wondersmile’s support team has received excellent reviews, and their lifetime warranty will preserve your new smile forever.

What Are WonderSmile Customers Saying?

When we review a company like WonderSmile, we start by digging through customer reviews to understand common issues and concerns.

We found hundreds of reviews for Wondersmile’s services, and it’s obvious from flipping through them that their customers are usually thrilled with their results. Customers are often pleased with the company’s excellent customer support, as well as their product quality and teeth scan appointments.

A few reviewers, however, reported delayed refunds for people they determine aren’t suitable for treatment. It appears that these experiences are the exception, not the rule, but also show that Wondersmile could be more consistent with their refund procedures.

WonderSmile vs. Invisalign

Wondersmile’s regular oversight goes a long way, but they still can’t match the effectiveness of Invisalign and other in-office treatments. Invisalign requires regular office visits, during which a dentist or orthodontist can adjust your aligner plan and implement attachments (like buttons and elastics) that induce more powerful tooth and jaw movements.

But this added effectiveness comes at a higher price, and Invisalign customers often pay thousands more than they would for at-home clear aligners. Still, if you have a bite misalignment or more severe crowding or spacing, Invisalign might be a better option.

WonderSmile vs. Other At-Home Clear Aligners

While WonderSmile is a great clear aligner company, there are other at-home and in-office options to consider. Invisalign is the primary in-office option, and while it’s more expensive than at-home clear aligners, it allows dentists to add special appliances and achieve more advanced teeth movements. There are also several other at-home teeth straightening options worth exploring, especially if you want the shortest treatment time or a quick treatment start.

Byte vs. WonderSmile

Byte stands out for their innovation. They offer treatment plans that can deliver final results in an average of four months, thanks in part to their HyperByte device, which can encourage faster dental shifts for some customers. Like Wondersmile, they also have a nighttime-only option and a lifetime guarantee. Plus, they assign each customer with a personal Byte advisor who can field questions throughout treatment. They don’t have any retail stores or remote oversight, but they’re a highly efficient, convenient option.

Find out more about Byte in our complete review.

EZ Smile vs. Wondersmile

If you’re on a tight budget (or just love great deals) EZ Smile might be a good choice. Their $2,149 price is hundreds lower than Wondersmile and most other clear aligner competitors.

Plus, they offer flexible financing plans and a 90-day money-back guarantee. They don’t have an orthodontist-only network or remote oversight like Wondersmile does, nor do they have a nighttime-only option, but anyone looking for an affordable treatment should consider EZ Smile.

SmilePath vs. Wondersmile

At just $1,899, SmilePath’s aligners are among the most affordable you’ll find, and their frequent discounts and flexible financing plans make them even more budget-friendly. They don’t sacrifice quality either — you’ll still get reliable products and customer support. SmilePath might not have any physical locations or regular oversight, but their prices and results make them worth a look.

For a closer look at SmilePath, check out our in-depth review.

SmileDirectClub vs. Wondersmile

SmileDirectClub stands out as the largest and most popular at-home clear aligner brand, and they’ve got retail locations across Australia. Plus, they’re the most experienced home aligner company, having transformed more than 1.5 million smiles so far. Wondersmile can’t match SmileDirectClub’s brand power, but they can match SmileDirectClub’s convenience with their scanning locations, nighttime-only treatment option, orthodontist-directed treatment plans, and regular remote oversight.

Get to know SmileDirectClub a little better in our comprehensive review.

Summary - Is WonderSmile Right For You?

Out of the five home-based clear aligner products we reviewed, we rank Wondersmile #4 overall. If you’re intrigued by orthodontist-directed care, nighttime-only treatment, and lifetime guarantees, Wondersmile could be a great option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does WonderSmile offer discounts?

Not frequently, but every so often you can catch a sale. If you sign up for Wondersmile’s emails, they’ll send occasional deals for $100–$200 off your aligners. They also have a referral program that gives you $200 and your friend $200 off treatment when they sign up. Additionally, you can sometimes find coupons on third-party websites for discounts on aligners and other products (although you should confirm that a site is reliable before you use their coupons).

Can WonderSmile correct my condition?

It depends. WonderSmile is extremely effective in treating mild and moderate cases of crowding and spacing, but it might not be able to correct jaw misalignments like overbite, underbite, crossbite, etc. The only way to know for sure is to visit a WonderSmile Clinic or use their at-home mold kit so they can analyze your smile.

What about Invisalign?

The clear aligner industry giant has its own set of unique benefits, most notably in-person care. During regular face-to-face checkups, your dentist or orthodontist can make adjustments to your treatment and add attachments that allow Invisalign to treat a wider scope of cases. Wondersmile is faster and less expensive, but Invisalign is a great option if your condition is severe or you’d prefer to meet with your dentist in person.

How much will I end up paying?

Even though WonderSmile’s sticker price is $2,690 (or $2,760 for NightClear), there are numerous factors that can influence cost, including discounts, financing, insurance, refinements, and more. In most cases, you won’t end up paying exactly $2,690/$2,760, but it will likely be close.

How do I get started?

Before anything else, WonderSmile’s dentists and orthodontists need to take a look at your teeth, so you’ll need to visit one of their clinics for a teeth scan or order one of their at-home mold-making kits. They’ll use these images to determine if you’re a good candidate and craft your entire treatment plan. Teeth scans cost $80 and DIY kits cost $45, but WonderSmile will take that payment out of your full aligner price.

How long will it take?

The average Wondersmile daytime treatment lasts around six months, and NightClear treatment lasts around nine, but each case is unique. Quick fixes might be shorter and more complicated conditions may take longer. It all depends on your condition’s severity and how strictly you adhere to your wear schedule. After Wondersmile’s orthodontists review your teeth scans, they’ll send you a treatment plan that estimates how long it will take.

What is the cheapest home aligner service?

Home aligner companies have drastically reduced the cost of teeth-straightening service, but that doesn’t mean they fit perfectly in every budget. If you’re a cost-conscious shopper, check out SmilePath. Their $1,899 sticker price is hundreds cheaper than the competition, including WonderSmile. Our full SmilePath review has more info.

Do clear aligners hurt?

When you switch to a new aligner set every two weeks, you might experience some discomfort for the first day or two, but after that, you’ll hardly notice them.

Is at-home clear aligner treatment safe?

Yes! While administering treatment from home might seem daunting, the process is very safe. Home aligner companies use state-licensed dentists and orthodontists to create your treatment plan and design your aligners. Even though you won’t meet with them in-person, each company offers robust customer support services if something doesn’t feel quite right. Plus, WonderSmile’s routine photo check-ins mean that your remote dental team can regularly review your case and address issues that arise.
