Removable Veneers USA has one of the longest histories of any snap-on veneer company, with an extensive track record of quality results. They began in 2007 as a tooth whitening company and had over 100 retail locations across the United States. In the 2010s, they transitioned to making snap-on veneers and rebranded as Removable Veneers USA. They spent two years in research and development to perfect their products before finally hitting the market.

Founded in 2015, TruSmile is quite a bit younger. However, they quickly gained a loyal following, giving them a lot of experience. They’ve served thousands of customers over the years, so you can feel confident that they’ve already seen a smile like yours.

How Does the Quality Compare?

The most important quality any snap-on veneer should have is, well, quality! Your goal when purchasing clip-on veneers is to hide your teeth behind a brilliant smile, and low-quality products prevent you from achieving that goal — or break before you get enough wear out of them. We have good news: both Removable Veneers USA and TruSmile maintain high standards for quality.

Materials

Snap-on veneer companies typically use one of two materials: acrylic or crystallized acetyl resin. They’re both highly durable and look fairly similar to natural teeth.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about Removable Veneer USA’s materials. When we contacted them, they stated it was dental resin, and clarified that it’s thin, durable, and natural-looking — all of which are quite important. Still, we’d like to know more.

TruSmile is clearer about their material, which is a unique German co-polyester resin. It’s thin, flexible, and durable enough to stand up to the pressures of regular use.

Durability

Not all snap-on veneers offer the same level of durability. In fact, many companies offer two or more models of varying strength — some designed for all-day wear, and others for occasional wear.

Removable Veneers USA has three models — the Premium is for occasional wear and their Premium Plus and Superior models are for daily wear. Their Premium model lasts 1-2 years — not very durable but pretty standard for occasional wear veneers.

Their Premium Plus veneers can last 3-5 years, but their real claim to fame is the Superior model — which they say can last up to ten years. That’s exceptional for daily-wear veneers, yet we’d take it with a grain of salt. They haven’t even been producing veneers for ten years, so none of their products have proven that claim yet.

TruSmile doesn’t offer multiple veneer options; they have a single model, which you can wear for up to 20 hours a day, every day. With standard wear, your veneers should last between one and five years, which is standard for the industry.

Comfort

Your lips and tongue will take some time to get used to any snap-on veneers. It’s a little awkward, but beyond those first days, they’ll get more comfortable.

Removable Veneers USA makes their products somewhat thick, so they’re slightly more noticeable to the wearer. You may also experience some soreness as the teeth adjust — though if you opt for occasional wear, this might not fully go away. TruSmile’s material is thinner, so it is less obtrusive. It is also flexible, so it causes a little less soreness. Most users find they adjust quickly, especially if they choose to wear them every day.

We tested Removable Veneers USA’s Premium veneers and TruSmile’s standard model, and we found Removable Veneers USA’s slightly more comfortable. Both, however, felt somewhat tight and uncomfortable initially, but that’s because they fit snugly, and they should get more comfortable with more consistent wear.

Slippage

You might hear people call snap-on veneers Millennial dentures. Although they aren’t dentures, they share certain features — including the risk of slipping out of place. Removable Veneers USA customers occasionally report issues with slippage, but it’s pretty rare. And clients who reported it stated that the company quickly offered adjustments or replacements.

Customer reviews indicate that TruSmile veneers are more likely to slip out of place than Removable Veneers USA. We actually came across multiple reviewers who said the veneers were so loose, they couldn’t speak because they constantly had to suck them into place. However, they also said that TruSmile was happy to correct it. While it’s better to get the right fit on the first try, their willingness to make things right means this isn’t a red flag.

Neither veneer moved around at all when we tried them on. They both fit well and stayed in place while we were talking.

Which Offers the Better Value?

Part of the appeal of snap-on veneers is their affordability, especially when compared to in-office cosmetic treatments like porcelain veneers. However, when you compare snap-on veneer companies, you’ll find that some options represent a better value than others.

Sticker Price

Though Removable Veneers USA’s pricing isn’t the highest in the industry, it’s definitely not the lowest either — particularly when it comes to their upper tier options. Their Premium veneers are $699 for both arches or $499 for one, their Premium Plus veneers are $899 for both arches or $699 for one, and their Superior veneers are $1,499 for both arches or $999 for one.

TruSmile is more affordable. You’ll pay $299 for one arch or $499 for both. Keep in mind that their veneers are similar in durability to Removable Veneers USA’s Premium Plus model. This means that going with TruSmile represents significant savings — at least in the short term.

Remember that Removable Veneers USA’s Superior model can last up to ten years while TruSmile says theirs will last 1-5 years. If you need to replace your TruSmile veneers significantly more often than those from Removable Veneers USA, you won’t necessarily be saving money in the long run.

Financing

Whether you want to cover one arch or two, you might find that the cost of snap-on veneers is too much to pay in one go. Both Removable Veneers USA and TruSmile have financing options that can break up the price.

Removable Veneers USA offers six financing options: Affirm, AfterPay, Sezzle, ShopPay, Klarna, and an in-house payment plan. Their in-house option splits the total into two payments: one due at the time the order is placed, and the second due before they ship out your veneers. The best part? It doesn’t require a credit check.

Their third-party financing options cover a lot of ground — some don’t have any fees, some feature low monthly payments, and some work with low credit scores. No matter your budget or situation, it’s likely you’ll find an option that works for you.

TruSmile offers an in-house payment plan, as well as third-party financing through Shopify. For their in-house plan, you can choose between making monthly payments, or paying in two installments (one downpayment, one a month later).

Insurance Coverage

Dental insurance does not cover snap-on veneers. They are a cosmetic product and not monitored by a dentist (aside from Snap-On Smile). If the cost is too high, even with financing, you might be able to use funds from a health savings account to cover part or all of the cost. Talk to your account administrator to verify the terms of use.

Additional Expenses

Neither Removable Veneers USA nor TruSmile requires you to purchase extra items just to use their veneers — all the essentials (impression kit and carrying case) are included in the sticker price. However, if you don’t get a usable impression with your first kit, both companies might charge you for a new one. Removable Veneers USA also encourages customers to purchase their UltraSonic Cleaner ($69.95) and an extended warranty ($99-$149). Both companies let you choose expedited production and shipping, which is $99-$149 for Removable Veneers USA and $145 for TruSmile.

How Does Their Appearance Compare?

If you’re considering snap-on veneers, you’re looking to improve the appearance of your smile. So before you submit payment, you need to know that your veneers match your unique style and tastes. Just keep in mind that no company’s veneers look inherently better than others, and which option looks best depends on your aesthetic preferences.

Materials

We already covered the quality of each company’s materials. However, the material affects their veneers’ aesthetics as well. Durable materials last longer, but they’re also often thicker.

According to Removable Veneers USA customers, their materials are thicker than some competitors but thinner than others. These reviewers found that the texture looks similar to natural tooth surfaces, which is a big plus. It does make the teeth thicker, but not so thick that it pushes the lips outward.

TruSmile’s material is slightly thinner, which means it affects the profile of your teeth less. The texture isn’t quite as natural as Removable Veneers USA’s, but it comes close.

Colors

If you’re investing in a smile makeover, you probably want to go a few shades whiter. However, not everyone wants that megawatt Hollywood smile.

Luckily, Removable Veneers USA has you covered no matter which kind of smile update you’d like to make. Their three shades — celebrity white, natural white, and champagne white — run the gamut. You can light up a room with a red carpet smile, or approach your transformation with a little more subtlety. It’s all up to you and what you want for your unique look.

TruSmile also offers three shades. Similarly, you can choose between their Hollywood white (which looks great in photos and videos), natural white (great for all situations), or natural stain (for those who want a less-obvious smile transformation). This gives you more control over your new smile’s appearance.

We picked both companies’ natural white option, and “natural” is a pretty apt description. They were slightly brighter than our natural teeth, but not so white that they might attract unwanted attention.

Natural Appearance

More than just covering the parts of your smile you don’t love, your snap-on veneers need to fool people into believing they are your natural teeth. This means that a Halloween-costume look just won’t do.

If you go with Removable Veneers USA, how natural your veneers look will depend on which model you get. Their Premium Plus and Superior Veneers are 3D printed, which helps achieve a more natural appearance, while their Premium Veneers might be a little more noticeable.

TruSmile’s appearance is pretty similar to the Premium Plus model. They closely mimic the appearance of natural teeth, and while people might pick up on a change, most people will just think you whitened your teeth or got porcelain veneers.

In our experience, even Removable Veneers USA’s Premium model was slightly less noticeable than TruSmile’s standard one. However, that doesn’t mean TruSmile’s were obvious. We had to look closely in a mirror to notice any discrepancy in either one, so the difference is small.

Tooth Division

The biggest factor that could potentially tip people off to your veneers is the visual definition between the teeth. Snap-on veneers are one solid piece, so they cannot match the separation your teeth naturally have.

Removable Veneers USA and TruSmile both form the ridges between the teeth as deep as they can without compromising the veneer’s integrity. They also trim the veneers to match your gumline (though this is less true with Removable Veneers USA’s Premium model).

Missing Teeth

Many people get clip-in veneers to hide their missing teeth. The only problem is that gaps can give the veneers a different color in these spots. Some snap-on veneers providers place a thin shell in the gap, ensuring the color remains uniform. Unfortunately, neither Removable Veneers USA or TruSmile include these fill-ins, which could affect the color uniformity.

Stain Resistance

Both Removable Veneers USA and TruSmile have designed their veneers to resist stains. If you don’t clean them, stains can build up on the surface, but they’re easy to remove. However, the veneers themselves should not change color. The exception is if you damage the outer layer, which allows stains to penetrate the plastic below.

Which Is More Convenient?

Wearing snap-on veneers means adding steps to your daily routine. However, they don’t need to be an inconvenience. Before you commit to snap-on veneers, make sure that you know exactly what’s involved in the start-up process and wear instructions.

Start-Up Process

The first step in getting snap-on veneers is taking impressions of your teeth and sending them to the company. This is often the hardest part for customers. Both Removable Veneers USA and TruSmile include multiple sets of putty in their impression kits, giving you room for error; but Removable Veneers USA offers more, giving you five chances to get it right. Both companies also host video tutorials and include detailed instructions in their kit. However, TruSmile goes one step further, offering a video chat with their team to walk you through the process.

Shipping and Production Turnaround

If you’ve decided you want to transform your smile, you probably have a deadline in mind — maybe it’s a big event or maybe it’s just a general timeline. Either way, you’re probably eager for your new smile to arrive in the mail.

Removable Veneers USA lets you pay $99 to speed up this process to 21-25 business days or $149 to take it down to 14-21 business days. TruSmile lets you upgrade to express processing for $145, which delivers your veneers in about two weeks.

We went with standard shipping for our veneer purchases, and TruSmile delivered them around three weeks after they accepted our impressions. Removable Veneers USA took slightly longer — around five weeks.

Daily Wear Experience

On the whole, snap-on veneers are pretty simple to wear, and the process is the same whether you choose Removable Veneers USA or TruSmile. Just clean your veneers before you put them in and before bed. So if you wear them all day, you’ll clean them twice, and if you take them out for meals, you’ll clean them more often. You also need to brush your teeth before popping them in. Just remember that if you get the Premium model from Removable Veneers USA, you must remove them before eating.

How Well Do They Support Their Customers?

Choose either of these companies and your entire process will be remote. As a result, quality customer support can make or break your experience. From help with impressions to getting remakes for poorly fitting veneers, you need to know the company you choose has support you can rely on, and both of these companies are reliable options.

Guarantees

Removable Veneers USA offers a competitive satisfaction guarantee. If you aren’t satisfied with the fit of your removable veneers (or if the product has a defect), you will be eligible for up to three free remakes.

This warranty only covers defects in the materials and craftsmanship, so things like misuse of the product or unauthorized alterations will not qualify. You have the option to extend this 30-day warranty to one year for an extra $99, and an extra two years for $149. However, they charge a copay per arch if you file a claim.

TruSmile has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, which sounds great — but the details aren’t as impressive as you’d hope. Essentially, it covers one free remake of your veneers, and only if they don’t properly fit your teeth. If you want a remake for any other reason, they won’t cover it.

TruSmile has a 30-day warranty as well. During this period, they’ll replace broken or damaged veneers, making it more comprehensive than Removable Veneers USA’s.

Refund Policy

Most snap-on veneers won’t give any refunds except on impression kits, and this is usually just a partial refund. Removable Veneers USA follows suit, but if you request a refund for your unused impression kit, they’ll keep 30% of the cost as a restocking fee. As for the veneers themselves, instead of a refund, they will remake them up to three times if there is a fit issue or manufacturing error.

TruSmile has a more nuanced refund policy. They never offer refunds on the veneers themselves; they just make adjustments or remake their veneers (one time, according to their guarantee). However, they do offer partial refunds in the following cases:

• When the customer returns their unopened impression kit within 20 days of ordering (full refund minus shipping).
• When the customer returns an open and used impression kit within 20 days of ordering (partial refund that excludes the cost of the impression kit and shipping, as well as a processing fee).
• When the customer escalates the refund request and the TruSmile billing department determines that there is a case (refund is the cost of the purchase minus 25%).

Basically, with any snap-on veneer company, if you are feeling even a little hesitant, hold off until you are confident in making your purchase.

Customer Education

Every new endeavor has a learning curve, including snap-on veneers. Customer education can fill the knowledge gap and make your experience smoother. Removable Veneers USA has a solid blog, but they don’t have many other educational resources. TruSmile has great guides, but like Removable Veneers USA, other content is lacking. We’d love to see both companies produce more video content to help customers find their footing when they first start wearing snap-on veneers.

Whether you run into a major problem or just have a quick question, you’ll need help from the customer support team. Removable Veneers USA has solid availability: Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. You can contact them by phone, email, or text. However, the best aspect of their customer support is that they’ll assign you a design consultant, giving you a personalized point of contact for at least part of your journey. Our Removable Veneers USA consultant texted us immediately after they shipped our impression kit, and she was responsive and helpful whenever we had questions.

TruSmile doesn’t offer the same availability. They are only available by phone and email Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. However, during their business hours, you’ll be able to get in touch with helpful representatives who are happy to assist you.

Our Overall Experiences With Removable Veneers USA and TruSmile

We tried each company’s veneers for ourselves, and both of them impressed us. Their impression kits were straightforward and fairly easy to use, and their veneers matched our real teeth well.

TruSmile manufactured and shipped our veneers faster, but Removable Veneers USA’s products were slightly more comfortable and realistic. Even so, we wouldn’t hesitate to wear TruSmile’s out in public, since we had to look closely to notice a difference in our teeth. Plus, neither veneers felt at risk of slipping out of place.

We also enjoyed our interactions with Removable Veneers USA’s customer support consultant, who texted to introduce herself and provide directions immediately after they shipped the impression kit. She was responsive and helpful with every question we had. We’re sure TruSmile has great customer service as well, but we didn’t have any interactions with them.
