Byte is definitely the best bang for the buck, the support is somewhat helpful, the price is affordable and it seems to be easy enough. I purchased my impression kit around early April, and purchased my treatment a few weeks after completing the impressions and return mailing them.
The impression silicon tastes awful and I gagged the whole time I waited for it to set up, the instructions were very easy to follow and the waiting was the hardest part. The impression kit came with a return envelope system, and I returned it through USPS with no hassle! I got an email around two weeks later, saying that they received my impressions and would work on the treatment plan soon.
The treatment plan took about two weeks as well, which is a slow turnaround. I had trouble with support after my purchase, emails not returned and calls would be bounced around the support center.
I received my aligners four weeks later. That is ridiculous. I was very unhappy with the time it took, my questions would be met with “it should be coming” and many would be unanswered.
The aligner box included the Hyperbyte, Britebyte and the aligners for the first 15 weeks and their case. It was all packaged nicely, easy to follow instructions and the Hyperbyte came with a cable.
The aligners are reminiscent of cheap reusable waterbottles, it has the same texture and the printing and molding can be seen on the aligners themselves causing weird spots when wearing – they’re not exactly discreet.
If you’re not focused hard on a constant support team, or care to have checkups, it’s a good value.8Madeline M.West Boylston, MA8 months agoCrowdingOverbite
So for a long time I wanted to straighten out my crowding issue. I decided to try clear aligners since they aren’t very noticeable. I chose Byte because they had great reviews and the price was reasonable. The hyperbyte device was also a huge selling point since the claim is that it speeds up the alignment time.
Sadly, these aligners were not as comfortable as they say they are, even after filing the edges down. My mouth was all cut inside and was sore from the cuts. I contacted them and they said they were sorry for the discomfort but that my mouth would get used to it. I tried for a week and just couldn’t do it. I decided I could only wear these at night. They said that’s fine but that I should double my hyperbyte time and double the time of wearing each aligner which was fine. So I did that.
At the end of my time, even after wearing that last aligner for a couple months, the retainer they sent me was no where near fitting me. I asked them for a new one and they said I’d have to do the aligners ALL OVER AGAIN! I was not happy about that so I just used the last aligner as a retainer. Then eventually just stopped using it. My teeth are very slightly straighter. Not by much at all. The crowding issue is the same for too and bottom. Overbite is also the same.
The customer service is super kind BUT sadly they can only do what the company is capable of. I personally wouldn’t suggest them.7Mary G.Jacksonville, Florida1 year agoSpacingTooth Gap
I looked into clear aligners for a few years because I wanted the front gap closed for longer than I can remember. I was leaning toward Invisalign and Smile Direct Club. Last year after giving up on those two because of cost and bad reviews, I started looking into Byte. Having a dentist as the face of the company caught my eye plus they had good reviews so I felt it would be good to go with Byte.
They emailed my weekly almost about continuing with treatment and if I had any questions, which made me feel they would be the same when I got the plan. It was at times but when I really needed to be helped, I felt like I was being ignored.
Everytime I had an issue it was like pulling teeth with tweezers to get them to take care of it. I usually email customer care with most companies because I usually work business hours but with them with issues I had to call because I honestly felt as if I was being ignored. I would send an email and after the normal 24 to 48 hours there was no response but in the mist of an issue I got one email to order retainers and another to review Byte for some whitening foam.
Unfortunately, I needed refinements because the treatment was messing up my bite and the plan was rotating one tooth to the side to close the gap but that was not the plan I agreed to. After weeks of back and forth, I got the impression kit, sent it off, got a new plan, and was told they would be expedited because of all the time spent trying to get in touch with them to even get that far. The normal time is about four weeks, I waited almost two months and had to call them to have it sent. They expedited that time and I got the email about it being shipped the next day. Sadly, the manufacturer completely messed up the aligners and was sent back to square one because they would not have the manufacturer reprint them. I went through the whole process and it has been over 4 months and I am still waiting. They said this time it would be expedited but it has not been over a month and still nothing.
I put my issue on IG and someone from Byte wrote and said they will look into it and get back to me and it has been a week and nothing. I was in the same aligners for almost 4 months with the company not having any noticeable sense of urgency to take care of the issue. Those aligners have since cracked so now I am back a week in aligners again. Since this was after the impressions were done I told them, they said it will be fine, however that is what they said about every issue and it turned out to not be.
I really wish I could recommend Byte but I wouldn’t want to be responsible for anyone feeling ignored and disappointed in an experience as I have been.7Dallas K.Cleveland, TN7 months agoCrowding
I’ll start by saying my reason for using aligners was just minor crowding. In researching aligner options I considered a lot of brands, I ended up going with Byte (TLDR: it was a disappointment. Don’t take the cheap route with orthodontics). To be honest Byte had the prettiest packaging and that reeled me in along with the price. I was extremely skeptical about the DIY orthodontics but decided it was worth a shot. I received my impression kit in April 2021 and got right to it. Taking my own impressions was terrible, gross, and also painful due to the trays being way too big for my mouth.
Fast forward, I received my aligners and hyperbite about 4 weeks later. I was hopeful. It took about 2 weeks to adjust to having aligners in my mouth, they were quite painful and destroyed my gums (get a fine grit file, Byte doesn’t care to make sure they’re not sharp). After the first two weeks it was a smooth process, I wore the aligners and used the hyperbite as prescribed. My treatment was set to be finished in august. August came and I reached the last aligner, but my teeth had hardly moved. They looked virtually the same as day 1. I reached out to Byte about my concern and received a response about a week later. They requested that I take pictures of my teeth in my current aligners and send them in. I did.
A week later I get another response requesting that I try on all of my aligners, take pictures of each set, and send those in (was quite inconvenient). A week later, another response saying they will send out another impression kit. I take more impressions, send those in and wait two weeks for a doctor to review them. Then I’m informed that they’re sending out refinement aligners, I get them about 3 weeks later (a 7 week process between informing byte of the issue and receiving the refinements). I am now completely done with my refinement aligners for my bottom teeth and guess what? More refinements are needed, hardly any change again. Starting that 7 week process once again.
Keep in mind my crowding was minor, and they couldn’t even get that right. If I could go back in time I would 1000% spend the extra money and do Invisalign and have it done right under the direct supervision of an Orthodontist. Luckily my teeth haven’t been damaged at all, but that’s also a risk you take with the DIY companies (read your contract). Don’t go the cheap route, invest in quality care.
My before photo was day 1 of aligners, my progress is where I am now. See much of a difference? Me neither, other than my purse being a bit lighter.6Blake P.Nashville,TN7 months agoMidline
The start process was simple and byte was easy to communicate with. I was updated along the way on the status of my order from the molds were received to reviewing to them being on the way. Once I received them that is when the communication started to get less responsive. I would reach out for support, get a generic response to send photos and then be told to either brush my teeth before wearing them or a provider will review my response. After completing treatment I requested an additional set because my teeth did not match the plan, I was told it would be an additional $600 even though I already paid in full. In the end they sent me my retainers and we went our ways and I was not satisfied with my smile as promised.5Courtney P.Los Angeles, CA7 months ago
I had braces 20 years ago and was still happy with my teeth. The problem was I was chipping my top teeth. This was happening because as my teeth wore down I had 1mm or less of bonding added to the top teeth and this slight increase caused my bite to be slightly off with the movement of my bottom teeth. The ONLY reason I wanted a service like this was to correct the bite so they wouldn’t chip. My dentist offered 8 weeks with Invisaglin and I opted for Byte who recommended 10 weeks.
Byte was about half the price and I liked it was a CA company and they had a special tool. First off I found communicating with Byte annoying. If you send an email they send an email or a text or call. Seems whatever you do they do the opposite or the email went to the wrong person. I would get conflicting info regarding the same question depending on who and when they answered. Lots of cross talk. I found this very annoying. I asked for email only but then it was still hit n miss if the correct person replied. Making the aligner molds was semi not easy due to a gag reflex (same happens in office) but I don’t know anyone who likes doing them.
Anyhow, I received my aligners in a nice box. Let’s call them my first set. Compared to Invisalign they were incomplete and didn’t cover the molars. They also seems to be not as strong – I could compare with my friend who was undergoing major dental work with Invisalign. Mine was supposed to be minor hence using Byte. It had a bubble at the bottom of the bottom aligner which irritated my lip but I figure you get what you pay for. I was wearing them 7 days, 247 and only taking them out to eat or drink a hot drink. I used the vibrating tool every night as directed. Once I accidentally wore them a week longer as I forgot to change them. Oops! At week 8 I contacted Byte to make sure the aligners I received wouldn’t have the same bubble in them. They asked for details and pictures etc and then decided I needed a new set of aligners… 8/9 weeks into my 10 week treatment. More molds were sent to me, I returned them and then I waited for the new retainers… I get these things happen, my teeth seemed fine but by the time all this had happened I had completed my original 10 week plan by a week or two. Now I had seven more weeks….
Same thing again. I again contacted them regarding retainers when the treatment was completed and they decided I needed another 7 weeks. I found this so frustrating. And obviously there is an expected delay in you getting the box to make the molds and then them sending back new aligners. You are still wearing the aligners and waiting. My teeth look too perfect, something I didn’t care about and there’s no way they can possibly move to another position.
My dentist was also confused seeing my teeth had moved into the position she would want them. Byte’s position is if you don’t finish treatment we can’t give you a lifetime guarantee…. I am doing this last set of 7 weeks and wearing them for 10-14 days as now directed, using the tool for 20-30 minutes. I am so done with these things I started wearing in APRIL! I am on week (step) 3 of 7 of my third set. I can’t repair the chips until I’m done. I’m actually glad we have to wear masks LOL!5Madeline M.Massachusetts1 year agoCrowding
So I decided to get aligners in the first place because I have a crowding issue. I did some research with reviews and price and found that Byte would be a good option. Sadly, I was disappointed with the results. My teeth weren’t that straight after. It seemed to only shift them a little bit. I wanted to make my teeth look more straight and less crowded looking. I don’t think it really helped too much. I notice a very small difference which is not worth it for the cost.
My retainer also didn’t even fit my teeth. So I asked them to help in remaking it and they said I’d have to do a whole new set of aligners! I definitely didn’t want to do that. When switching aligners I always got a headache. I did voice my concerns with the customer service team and they were very nice and tried to help but the only help they could provide was a whole new aligners set. I was over it so I just let it be.
My advice… this is not a great option for overcrowding issues. I’m upset I spent the money for barley any results. This still gets three stars because they were nice and responsive.5Abigail H.Jackson, MS7 months agoCrowding
I wore braces as a kid for about 18 months when I was about 10 years old. Over the years, my teeth shifted significantly and I was having a lot of crowding in my upper and lower front teeth. After reading lots of reviews, I decided to try Byte as they were an at home service with easy access to customer service. However, I was really disappointed by my experience. I wore my initial set of aligners for 12 weeks and had a lot of changes in my back teeth, but it worsened the crowding of my front teeth. It also messed up my bite, so that my teeth no longer touched in the front when I smiled. I reached out to the Byte customer service team and they sent more mold sets and sent me aligners for another 12 weeks. Again, I saw no improvement. After spending over $2000 on aligners only for my teeth to get worse, I finally gave up. The aligners were also incredibly painful, to the point that I had trouble sleeping at night. Even though the customer service was really responsive, I felt that the service and aligners weren’t effective at all, and it was definitely a huge waste of money.4Jesse W.Conneaut, Ohio7 months agoCrowdingSpacing
My teeth are the first thing you notice about me and I definitely have never liked them. I was looking at options and wanted to find some decently priced and so I stumbled upon byte. Byte molding was easy – the clear braces they send you can really hurt your teeth. I was always bleeding.
Towards the end of my treatment I really couldn’t tell a big difference like it wasn’t what I thought they would turn out to be. I wanted more straighter teeth and one of my teeth was still pushed back. I don’t like having the clear wear in my mouth either – several sores and gum cutting going on. I have permanent scars in my mouth from them. My teeth also wiggle ALOT and it’s very annoying. I will definitely say go to the dentist.4Lauren D.Holly9 months agoCrowdingSnaggletooth
I have always felt self-conscious about my bottom front tooth that is crowded and doesn’t look good in my mouth. After getting some unexpected money I decided that it was time to try and fix the problem. I decided to try and start with Byte and was very hopeful that it might help. I was excited by the packaging, the ease of use and the customer service with Byte. I have not had any results yet. I have contacted them and had them send new retainers twice but I have not seen results yet. I wear them every day and they encouraged me to use the “hyperbyte,” which I do try and use when I have time. About 4 times a week. I included a picture to show that unfortunately several thousands of dollars later and I don’t feel like it’s been much of a difference.4Zoe K.Marion, OH7 months agoCrowdingSpacingOverbite
I decided to purchase aligners from Byte because my teeth were crowded on the top and spaced apart on the bottom. Byte only cost me around $2,000. Other aligner companies charged more. They did not meet my expectations. They take a long time to answer. The “retainer” is just another aligner that you are supposed to change every six months. The aligners are painful. The hyperbyte helps the pain some. However, everytime I change aligners I have to use gum relief gel. I recommend using the hyperbyte more than the recommended 5 minutes a day. The aligners gets cloudy fast even when you follow Byte’s cleaning directions. The aligner cleaner/whitening foam is over $20 per little bottle. It last me about a month.4Lindsey C.Plant City, FL7 months agoCrowdingSpacing
I chose online aligners because the of convenience of not going into the dentist for aligners. I specifically chose the at night option because of the shortened timeline and only having to wear the aligners at night so it was less disruption to my life. So far the company has not met my expectations. I was ensured a 15 week treatment plan and I have been wearing the aligners for 8 months and still nowhere near that projected outcome. I found their advertising is very faulty in promising you only need to wear each set for one week. The customer service is OK, but very slow. It’s hard to get a told of somebody on the phone, and emails take up to seven days to respond. I would not recommend Byte at night.2Sarah W.Metairie7 months agoCrowdingOverbiteOpen Bite
Byte damaged my teeth (as seen by the greying) to the point where my dentist was concerned about irreversible damage and tooth loss. I had to discontinue prior to completing treatment, and have since spent over $7k repairing the damage and paying for traditional braces. Not only were my teeth grayed and damaged, but my bite and tooth placement was worse after discontinued treatment than it had been to begin with.2Paula H.San Diego9 months agoCrowdingSnaggletoothOverbite
Did Byte because of the night only option of wear which fit my lifestyle. Byte customer service has been average. My main issue is the minimal progress I have made after 14 months of treatment. I may be doing this for another 6+ months.1Paula H.San Diego1 year agoCrowdingSnaggletoothOverbiteMidline
Not much change yet. I’ve had a lot of issues making any progress in my treatment. I’m on my 4th set of aligners and have had minimal movement in any of my teeth. Fortunately, Byte is willing to keep trying and I hope one day it will work out.1Sienna B.Hampton Bays7 months agoCrowdingOverbiteMidline
I wanted straighter teeth before my wedding. Byte was the cheapest.
They have not yet met my expectations; treatment aligners sometimes did not fit properly which held up treatment.
I wanted to correct crowding.
Customer support is quick and easy to reach, minus some long wait times on some days.
The impression kit and teeth scan were easy to do but time-consuming.
I would give this advice: to expect the treatment to take way longer than planned. Also- get wisdom teeth removed prior to starting treatment.1Adaobi U.Blue Bell , PA6 months agoCrowding
I had braces as a teenager but I guess due to 3 pregnancies,Not wearing retainers and lack of dentist visits (I was scared!) my bottom teeth became very crowded. One of my teeth even moved back so far it looked like it could be a second row. One of my top teeth right in the front twisted and turned. My teeth were very embarrassing, I hated smiling.
I requested a kit from byte and it came overnight! The plastic pieces for my mouth were huge and I messed up one mold but the rest were enough to approve me as a candidate. The customer service person I dealt with thru that process + setting up payment was very nice and responsive. Once my aligners came they were easy to use, not too much pain. Trying to communicate with customer service was very hard, usually taking about a week for a reply.
At one point I wasn’t tracking and the process of getting new aligners was actually easier and quicker than I had expected. I started in march 2021 and it’s now December 2021. I was originally quoted 4 months but I’m ok with the fact that it’s taking longer. Rushing the process seems scary!! I am on my last tray for the top and 3 more to go on the bottom. Overall I am estatic with the results!!! But I still am not done! I would definitely recommend byte to other people with mild corrections with the understanding that you might not have the best communication from the company.0Ali S.Surprise, AZ2 months agoCrowdingOverbiteCrossbite
I want to start by saying if you’re not motivated and consistent, this will not work. My treatment was going great for a while and then I kept forgetting to put the aligners in and one tooth was stubborn and would not move so I lost motivation. I eventually started back up again but basically from week 1. If you’re consisted and motivated, this is a great way to straighten your teeth without braces, but stay consistent or it will not work! I would recommend because it is cheaper than braces and easier if you don’t want to deal with having braces and bands and wires in your mouth, and it’s all from home so there are no dentist visits0Amirah A.USA2 months agoSpacingTooth GapOverbite
I had a huge gap in my front teeth and overbite. I looked at Invisalign and they cost double what byte was offering so I opted for byte. However, byte has the worst customer service ever. It is so hard getting in touch with an agent. It’s 2 years later and I still have not received by retainers. I do not recommend them to anyone.0Amy M.Arlington, VA3 months agoCrowdingOverbite
Having used Invalign with a traditional orthodontist for 5-6 years, there was still room for improvement. And since I didn’t have aligners, my teeth have moved quite a bit and so I was looking to get my teeth done again. I love that we never had to visit the orthodontist and everything is mailed, and we can log in whenever to the portal to view the treatment plan journey. However, the site wasn’t the most user friendly and there wasn’t much to it other than looking at how your teeth could shift after each set of aligners. I think this is great for someone who has had prior orthodontist/braces experience and is looking for some minor improvement but for more complicated cases that involve major transformation, I think going to a traditional orthodontist is necessary as it might require removing teeth to create space for movement. Absent that, it only allows for very small teeth movements. And it doesn’t correct over/under bite.0Arianna G.TIfton, GA2 months agoCrowdingSnaggletoothOverbite
I have always wanted to fix my teeth and found Byte on Facebook. They had good reviews and seemed to have a reasonable price. I initially received 15 aligners for both top and bottom. They were to be worn a week at a time and use the byte tool 5 min a day. Close to the end I contacted Byte as I did not see significant progress. They instructed me to go back a few weeks and wear them longer and use the tool for 20 min a day. I was also told I had 3 additional aligners for the bottom and 5 for too they were sending out. Towards the end of the expanded set I once again contacted Byte disappointed with my progress. I was instructed again to go back a few weeks. I continued for a few months and finally gave up. It always took more than a week for each response from Byte which led to several weeks as they always requested more photos in each email. I am disappointed and do not see a difference. I feel I wasted the money and will still need braces to correct my issue.0Ashley L.KY6 months agoCrowding
Decent product. You can see that my teeth have shifted, but they did not track with the original plan. I was supposed to complete treatment in 15-weeks. I have been using the trays for over a year now. My front teeth crowding is still prevalent and I know I have a ways to go.0Breanna P.Tucson, AZ3 months agoCrowding
I purchased the byte aligners because of cost and they offered free retainers for life. I thought he was great since I would need them. I explained to them what my in-person dentist told me and explained my goals for my teeth so I could be confident. They assured me that the aligners would work for my smile as nothing was extreme. Just a little crowding on the bottom front and unevenness on the top. They also said that based on my insurance I would only have to pay half.
In the end, they gave me the insurance paper claim late with the wrong date so my insurance denied the claim so I had to pay in full. Also after a year and a half of treatment, my lower teeth were slightly better but my upper teeth only seemed worse based on the aligners. I had nonstop problems with their aligners not aligning with my teeth properly. One time they even sent the wrong aligners. After countless attempts to try to resolve the problem with their aligners not being made right for my teeth, I asked them politely to either truly fix the problem, tell me the truth that they cannot help me, and/or give me my money back! ($1800). They did not respond to any of my requests and only asked for my dentist to send them a letter about my recent cleaning and fillings done in the back of my mouth that are NOT affected by the aligners. I was so upset I cut my losses and walked away before they screwed up my teeth. The last thing I will mention is that during my year and a half of treatment. I always had to be the one to reach out to them regarding concerns. Then never asked how my treatment was going or if I had concerns. They just wanted my money. Would NEVER recommend them.0Caley W.San Antonio, TX6 months agoCrowdingCrossbite
Byte is honestly a company that lives on being “good enough”. I wasn’t happy with my results after I completed my treatment so they sent me additional slingers, again wasn’t happy so they sent more & after that I gave up. My teeth definitely look better, but are they great? No. Are they straight? Not really. I paid almost 2k & I now have to go get braces to actually fix my teeth. Their customer service doesn’t seem to care based on my experience & the comments I’ve seen from others.0Casey F.Arkansas5 months agoCrowdingSnaggletooth
I chose to do at-home aligners because the problems I wanted fixed weren’t major and being in college had made my wallet pretty thin. So, after doing some serious research I chose Byte. I decided to use this company for 2 reasons. Their pricing was one of the best on the market and their customer reviews were outstanding. Now, the reason I gave them 3 stars out of 5 is because at the end of my treatment plan I was nowhere near the point they had predicted.
After contacting them and alerting my team of my concerns they helped me to setup another round of aligners to hopefully create our desired results. So, my original 15 weeks turned into another 15 weeks after 3 months of waiting for my second set to arrive. And if they had worked this wouldn’t have been a big deal, but after all that the aligners caused one of my teeth to become more crooked than it was before.. I wouldn’t not recommend them because they do seem to have an amazing team and customer support, but it was kind of a waste for me personally because now I’m going to have to get traditional braces anyway.0Casey S.Owensboro, KY4 months agoSpacingSnaggletooth
I was very skeptical at first. I honestly didn’t think that aligners would do much for me. I don’t have any type of bite, so when it came to aligners, that was going to be the only down fall. Going through the aligners I noticed my confidence was boosting because my teeth were finally becoming straight. I couldn’t believe it!0Chris G.Wilmington, Delaware3 months agoSpacing
I decided to purchase the aligners to make my teeth look better. I only had a lil spacing and wanted it fixed. I chose byte because they cut the process and half and your treatment is done quickly. Some aligners didn’t fit and when k got my retainers they didn’t fit at all. They would not send me another impression kit. So now I reuse my last pair of aligners and still have to pay. I tried contacting them about this issue and they said it was out of their hands.0Colby L.Phoenix, AZ3 months agoCrowdingSpacingOverbite
I decided to purchase Byte aligners because my teeth were not aligned properly for much of my life and I could not afford braces when I was younger. I chose Byte as it seemed like an affordable option that would help my issue within a reasonable about of time. My treatment was only supposed to take roughly four months and although I was skeptical I understood adjustments would need to be made according to what I needed. I did not expect to still be wearing aligners over a year and a half later. The issue with Byte is that every time you talk to someone in customer service, whether via email or phone, it is someone knew who does not have any prior knowledge of your treatment. I repeatedly had to ask every person to read prior notes/history so I would not have to continue to repeat myself every time I got on the phone. Overall, I have had to have 35 sets of aligners after an initially prescribed 17, this seems like a severe miscalculation. As I said, I understand that adjustments need to be made throughout the process, but the lack of customized support really made this an unbearable process. I would not recommend this company to anybody planning to go through similar treatment, the only reason I gave three stars was because I am happy with the end result.0Delaney S.Seguin, Texas5 months agoCrowding
Byte was great until they decided that I voided my warranty by getting a emergency root canal. At that point, they ended my treatment. I would not work with this company again.0Elizabeth J.Mercer, PA6 months agoCrowding
The process of enrolling with Byte is pretty easy & seamless. Initially, the customer service & support is extremely helpful & there to address every question each step of the way. Moving along through treatment, you feel like less of a priority. It becomes difficult to get in touch with customer service(at least someone actually qualified to help) and you often, if not always, wait 5-7 days to receive any feedback on your questions concerning treatment. I had little results with my first set of aligners and will say Byte stood behind its guarantee to redefine my treatment plan and send me another set of aligners; however, that didn’t give me the results I wanted in the timeframe I desired. I probably would have been better off in an orthodontist’s office where they would periodically monitor and tweak my plan, rather than waiting till the end for adjustments. That said, I’m slowly noticing results. If you want a “hands off” treatment experience, this is it!0Results: 1 through 30 out of 54 results← Previous PageNext page →
